10:23pm A dominant show from Australia to go 1-0 up in the three-T20I series. Litchfield with a super innings, never really letting Australia feel the nerves even when it got a tad tricky at one point. Ice cool and nimble-footed, she does it in her style and her play against spin being one to watch on loop. New Zealand fought well with the ball, with Penfold putting on a good show. But their issues with the bat remain.
Phoebe Litchfield, Player of the Match: "Awesome to get the win today. We bowled really well, and to win with a few balls to spare is great. Coming to the country - I am a country girl myself - it is good to hear the crowd scream out our name. I have added a few more shots, trying to pierce the field, I can look like an idiot sometimes, but good when they come of. So nice to be playing for Australia, excited for my first World Cup."
Suzie Bates, New Zealand captain: "You never know how many is enough against Australia. We built a few good partnerships but were never able to carry on. Knew there was something on the wicket and the outfield was slow, but Litchfield took it away from us. She is tough to set fields too. So being clear on the felds we want to set. Thought there were some positives in running between the wickets and taking a few wickets"
Alyssa Healy, Ausralia captain: "Little bit chaotic but we'll take it. Nice to have a couple of options up our sleeve. Blessed to have a lot of allrounders. Probably look at our dismissals and change a few things up."
Just the perfect start for Australia ahead of the T20 World Cup, New Zealand have some thinking to do, especially with their batting power. Alex's report will be up soon. Do join us for the second game on Sunday. Till the next time, take care, ciao!
Six needed off the last two overs, Kasperek to bowl now. Only three women outside the ring

Hypocaust: "Meg Lanning (20y 303d) is the only Australian woman to be younger than Phoebe Litchfield (21y 154d) when bringing up their second T20I fifty. Those seem like two names that are destined to be mentioned in relation to various records for the foreseeable future." Superb this
