8:11pm And that will be a wrap from us for this game and this series. We hope you enjoyed our coverage but we are not done with our cricket coverage for the day. Far from it actually. Bavuma and Stubbs are keeping India at bay in Kolkata, with Australia plotting a 205-run fourth-innings chase over in Perth. Oh, and Bangladesh and Ireland are also at it, although Bangladesh hold all the aces in that particular contest. Tune in to those games to stay updated with all the happenings, and until next time, from Chetan, Deiva and myself (Shashwat), it is goodbye!
Kyle Jamieson, Player of the Series: (How he is feeling) Felt better than probably the first month of the summer. Felt I have built (through the summer), through consistency (of cricket and recovery). As a unit, did such a good job. To come away with the series win is pleasing. Nice to have three ODIs in a week, and some travel days in there as well. Nice to get some time in the legs and a bit of time off. Very competitive series so far, and I am sure that will happen in the Tests as well. Something we (the bowling unit) have done well this summer is we have had different roles, have had to adapt plans to the roles given and that gives us a broad skill-set of what we want to do. And then communicating on the day what we want to do. Just a great series all-round for the bowling unit. Nice to be playing cricket. Just trying to stack those games up. Consistency of (being) on the park. Lot of work to get to this point, to be able to play back-to-back games and the full series. Really pleased.
Matt Henry, Player of the Match: We have been playing some really good cricket. The cool thing is we have been doing good stuff in key moments, which has gotten us over the line. Everyone is stepping up (in different ways) and that is great. (On the pitch) It was quite a slow surface. A little bit different to how you want to go about your work. Small ground, so you have to be taking wickets throughout. Thankfully, we could do that. (On the upcoming Test series) It is an exciting little stretch coming up, starting at Hagley and that is something we are looking forward to.
Mitchell Santner, New Zealand captain: Through the T20s as well, there have been a few close games. To come out as winners, is pleasing. Another clinical performance from the bowlers (as we have seen throughout the series). There is obviously a lot of work. The flexibility of bowlers changing roles (like Duffy bowling first-change). That is what you can ask for - throw the ball to a guy and for them to do the job. Not often you pick six seamers in a squad. Everyone came in and performed a role. Seen that throughout the summer and that is pleasing. The way Bracewell and Chapman showed that intent through the middle (today), it was amazing. It was a good wicket and they made it look very flat. One partnership can put you in a good position. Different guys on different days (stepping up) and that is the most pleasing aspect.
Shai Hope, West Indies captain: We are just not clicking with the bat. Maybe not assessing and adapting as quickly as we should. We won the toss and elected to bat, so needed to put runs on the board. Just about trying to be better every single day. Learning from the opportunities, understand the conditions. This (pitch) was maybe more similar to Caribbean conditions. Did not get the flow or the momentum. Just was not our day with the bat. Credit to the bowlers. Putting them (New Zealand) under pressure. It is the batters who let us down for the entire series. Whenever you come to NZ, most teams do not find themselves on the winning side. The position we found ourselves in, that must be credited. In the T20s and ODIs. Not too much to shout about on that front, but able to grasp those crucial moments. Today, we did not get going at all. Got to take the positives from it and build (together forward).
7:51pm A convincing win for the Kiwis, after two keenly-contested games. Much like the T20Is, where the hosts ran out winners rather comfortably in the final encounter. The bowlers set up the game, rolling WI over for 161. There were a few hairy moments with the bat, especially when NZ were reduced to 32-3. But Chapman, in the side due to Mitchell's injury and Bracewell, weathered that storm and counter-attacked to great effect, thereby completely extinguishing any hopes WI would have had of a turnaround.
Speaking of the visitors, this was a rather end to a white-ball leg in which they have given New Zealand a run for their money on multiple occasions. And while they may have been hurting before today over their failure to win key moments, the bare fact was that they never really came close to fashioning any of those today.
Just two needed now
And this game goes into another over. To be bowled by Chase. Around the wicket
