With the new ball, looked tricky but credit to Shai and the others to get them to a good score. But this is a tough ground to defend. One of those wickets if you spend a bit of time and get in, like Shai, he played a great hundred. They (our openers) got us off to a great start. I thought it was a good score. Especially the last few overs, they batted really well. One of those grounds where if you can get a good start, you can cash in. There is always one gap everywhere (with four outside the ring), and we exploited that.

Want to give the best chance to my team to win the game. Just about trying to put pressure on them, not allowing them to settle. If they get on top, it can be hard work. Felt I needed to put some impetus into the innings to have a chance of defending this score. Everyone knows this by now that I am one who loves to win. Irrespective of scoring hundreds and fifties, I'd rather score two and five and win, and giving my team the best chance to win. I was trying to maximize the last couple of overs, so happened I got the strike, got a couple away (and got to a hundred). (On the score) I honestly thought it was enough. Clearly it wasn't. certain areas you can look on and improve. With the bat, little bit more runs with the dot balls, maybe putting more pressure on the powerplay. Hindsight is the best sight. We may have gone off the boil with the ball. We did not force them to hit down the ground as much as we wanted to and lost the plot a bit in the middle. He is one of those bowlers who comes in and takes a wicket. Struggling a bit with that hamstring, flares up now and then. Even if he was not there, felt the other guys had the job covered. Did not happen for us, but should have gotten past the line today. When you look at it, you come to NZ, first time in these conditions, the way we have been pushing the game to the back end, pretty much finishing in the last over, it is only a matter of time before we cross the line. We have to find a way to cross the line. To be a great team, you have to keep winning against the best.

10:48pm Wow. What a finish by the NZ skipper. When he walked in, NZ needed 54 off 29, but he went on to crunch 34 off 15, playing the sort of cameo that WI have now become accustomed to on this tour. Latham was there at the other end, doing what was required. Prior to that, Conway and Ravindra had set the tone. Ravindra departed after reaching his fifty but Conway played a major hand, making 90 and ensuring that NZ had a good foundation to launch from.

WI, on the other hand, will be frustrated. They got themselves into a decent position again, only to squander the advantage towards the end. Shepherd being unable to bowl may have played a part, and they will look back on those moments, wondering what they must do to win it and get past the finish line.
