Righto! A solid game of T20 cricket which went India's way but Sri Lanka can be proud of how they went about in a monstrous chase. India go 4-0 up and will certainly want to work on their fielding going into the fifth T20I and beyond. In case you missed any action, Srinidhi Ramanujam's report has you covered. That's it from the fourth T20I. Until next time, this is me Ashish Pant, signing off on behalf of Chetan and Raghav. Ciao!
Cal Sri: "Love Smriti but the player of the match for me was definitely the one who suffered with a few dropped catches was Vaishnavi Sharma. She bowled at 120, while most other were at 200-220 rate except for Deepti. . We need a fielding coach. I have watched highlights of several India matches and the ones in the air are our biggest problem. "
Smriti Mandhana is the player of the match: [Getting back in the groove] After playing a lot of ODI cricket this year, it was tough get into T20 cricket. It was mentally a little different. Happy that I contributed better today. [Change in plans after the three T20Is] The plan was similar today as well, no major changes. I had some game plans against them and I practiced a lot. [On Shafali] To watch Shafali bat at the other end is always a treat to the eyes. She does the majority of the hitting in the powerplay. We know each other's strengths and weaknesses. She has matured a lot. [Team atmosphere] In the last one year, there is a different kind of team building, everyone is celebrating everyone's success.
India captain, Harmanpreet Kaur: [Getting angry at the end] We were getting short in time and I wanted everyone be on time. I didn't want three fielders outside the infield. I try to improve from my mistakes. [On batting ] Should give credit to Shafali and Smriti and then me and Richa finished well. [More hits for batters] We thought we will give chance to Harleen, but today how it went, we sent Richa early. Smriti and Shafali didn't let Harleen bat :D
Chamari Athapaththu: At least we have improved in our batting. But still we need to improve especially in power-hitting. [On India's batting] They batted really well. Our bowlers didn't bowl well, but there are lots of youngsters in our team. They have learnt a lot of things because they are playing the best team in the world. [On Vaishnavi] She is bowling very well. I feel she has improved a lot. She bowls accordingly to plan, especially in the middle.
Do hang around for the presentation
10.13pm A spirited chase from Sri Lanka who have displayed great courage and quality in their hunt for 222. A target of that magnitude that has never been achieved in women's T20I but SL gave it a go, testing the Indian bowlers all the way through. Hasini Perera and Chamari Athapaththu were off the blocks in a jiffy as SL reached 50 inside four overs. Vaishnavi Sharma was hugely impressive, picking 2 for 24 in her four overs, and should have had a few more if not for some dropped chances. The other bowlers were expensive but India never let SL get a whiff of the chase. Lots of chances went a begging for India again, and fielding is one area they will definitely want to improve. For SL, Athapaththu scored 52 while Perera, Nilakshika Silva chipped in nicely. The end result though is, India win by 30 runs and take a 4-0 lead.
md: "Very poor fielding from India throughout this series. Well fought by SL to the very end"
Shadow-Shell: "Even though Sri Lanka lost this one, this was the most competitive of the 4 matches this series. They might even take this confidence and win next match"
Zamshah: "Comprehensive in at the end but Harman's face anger between overs shows how poor we are in field drop more than they caught "
