Preston Mommsen: A lot of hard work and preparation got us here, it's a special feeling. The brand of cricket we played with the bat, especially the run rate and batting down till No. 11, and nothing to take away from the bowlers. It's a dream to go and play a World Cup in India now.

Peter Borren: Associate cricket has moved a lot since we last shared this trophy (in 2008 with Ireland). Reaching until the finals was a great effort from both teams. To win four games on the trot with the pressure on us was pretty intense. It was such a cut-throat tournament, we could have been flying back home earlier. We can be very proud of our achievements.

That's all we have from this tournament, it's over already and six teams will head to India in March next year for the World T20. Until then, goodbye and good luck. Ciao!

2.56pm And here's the official word: Match has been abandoned, Netherlands and Scotland share the trophy. Namibia's Bernard Scholtz is named the Man of the Series.

2.52pm Our man at the ground, Peter Della Penna, says: It's hammering down now. They are taking the covers off the run-ups and everything but the pitch itself. Looks like the ground staff are packing in, even if official word hasn't been given to the teams.

1.48pm The pitch is still covered, it has been raining on and off. Some Netherlands players were seen strolling around as it's not raining too hard at the moment. Hang on, they are having ice creams actually near the boundary rope and Van der Merwe has one in each hand! Some delicious-looking softies with flakes! Don't believe me? Here:
