Thanks for your company tonight from the Gabba. The Heat roll onto face the Thunder on Sunday. The Strikers season is over. Join us tomorrow as the Sixers take on the Scorchers in Canberra in the Qualifier with the winner earning the right to host the BBL final. Until then, goodbye.
Chris Lynn: "I was happy to lose the toss and get to assess the conditions with the ball. The new ball nipped around and I was really proud of the boys winning the game for us. Obviously we've got a lot of scars from previous matches over the years. But we backed the guys. Having the field out meant we could knock the ball around a bit and take the Surge later. There's room for improvement when we take on the Thunder."
It was a horror night for the Strikers. They were lucky to make the Eliminator to begin with and played like a team that didn't believe they should have been there. They crawled to 130, albeit on a difficult batting strip. But they had their chances in the field but dropped three of them, including Peirson once and Burns twice, and it was that pair that steered the Heat home.
James: "Catches win matches - and dropped catches lose matches. No excuses for the Strikers, they had their chances."
Ravi: "Peirson has played one of the finest knock in BBL with SR under 100"
Jimmy Peirson: "Can't wait for the Thunder. A bit of momentum for us now and we can go down there and beat them and continue on our road to the final."
Brisbane Heat survive and advance! Jimmy Peirson steers them home with a superb 47 not out. They move on to face the Sydney Thunder in Canberra on Sunday in the Knockout. Jimmy Peirson is Player of the Match.

ryan: "this reminds me of the all-melbourne final in 2019. the stars botched a small chase with all wickets in hand at halfway"
Wally G: "Heat just missed a huge opportunity to make their life easier...what was Head thinking? " I'm mystified Wally. He must have got his sums wrong and not realised.
Peirson is fine. But the doctor has come out to do a concussion protocol. He seems OK. Peirson will continue.
