A superb start to the new season. Despite such a low score to chase and defend, the match wasn't over until the 240th delivery was bowled. One to get, one ball left, and one wicket in hand; in the end, we had a winner, with Sandhu playing an all-round role. That's it from us today, but don't forget to join us again for the action tomorrow. See you!

Nathan: "Shouldn't the Thunder end up on 126. Might seem pedantic but could have NRR consequences (CA app has 123 as well for some reason)" --- That's because according to the laws, if the winning run(s) is completed before the ball reaches the boundary, then only the run(s) that was taken is counted

Walt: "First game of the season a humdinger? Check, check, check!"

Gurinder Sandhu is the Player of the Match: "Kind of had an idea what was coming. Judging by the field, I thought stay still, and watch the ball. A great game... The communication as a bowling group - and with Jason as captain - was really good."

Thunder squeeze home in a tense finish that many didn't see coming when Webster picked up two in two. Sandhu the hero. With the game slipping away, he hit a crucial six to level things up before that dramatic final ball sealed their win. Relief in the Thunder camp, all Zampa and the Stars can do is have a wry smile as they walk off. They can't believe this has slipped away from their grasp.

Webster to Sandhu, 1 bye, oh dear, oh dear. Sandhu is beaten but keeper Joe Clarke misses it too, and the ball beats him to the boundary. Clarke had taken his glove off anticipating the possibility of the batters trying to sneak in a bye. The thinking was spot on, execution not quite. What an extraordinary game of cricket we've witnessesd to kickstart the BBL season. Terrific, terrific match!

1 off 1. Are we going into a Super Over?

Webster to Sandhu, SIX, holy-moly! Sandhu has nailed this pull. Clears the ropes as well. This was a short ball but didn't rise as much. Webster shouldn't be bowling those at this stage, not at his pace certainly. Sandhu held his shape and absolutely muscled it as it arrived. Just over the ropes. They need 1 now.

Webster to Doggett, 1 run, wrists this down to long-on, a single is all they'll get. 7 off 3

Webster to Fazalhaq Farooqi, OUT, hits bulls eye. Webster claims another. Farooqi is backing away to play an almighty heave but misses it altogether. The good'ol tailender's slog. Thunder right on the edge.

Webster to Green, OUT, that's a second super catch that Couch has pulled off. Green thinks he's absolutely nailed this hit, Couch, who is 20 yards inside the ropes at long-off, has nearly misjudged it but ends up back-pedaling just a touch and then puts in a leap to grab the stunner. What a moment.
