10.20pm: Sixers claim the Smash honours with a comprehensive win. Thunder looked short of a competitive total after stuttering through to 133 for 8, and so it proved despite reducing their crosstown rivals to 25 for 3 in the powerplay. Jordan Silk and Moises Henriques fashioned a no-frills stand that put the contest to bed, victory pushing Sydney's magenta men back up to the top of the standings. They are closing in on a play-off spot, Thunder still have some work to do after their fourth defeat in nine
Sean Abbott is Player of the Match: "There was a little bit of a green tinge on the wicket, when the captain gives you the hard ball there's no more incentive to go out and perform well and set the tone. It was nice tonight. We felt we'd underperformed as a group and were really motivated to put on a performance. We were under the pump a bit early but these boys [Silk and Henriques] turned zeroes into ones and twos into threes and seemed to find every gap. To do it like that is something we've been asking for, especially at this stage of the season. [Toss?] There was discussion about dew, tonight it seemed to come on a bit more when the hardness went out of the ball. We went out there and adjusted beautifully."
Anyway, round one of the Sydney derby is done and dusted, we'll be back with more BBL action from Hobart tomorrow. Cheerio!
