Player of the Match

That concludes our BBL activity for today. I'm signing off on behalf of Chandan, Rashad, and the entire ESPNcricinfo team.

Player of the Match Max Bryant: "(Early Power Surge) Yeah, we just need to go on 12 per over there for the last 10 overs and I think me and Matty (Renshaw) has to get it done there. He (Renshaw) batted exceptionally as well. I think we needed to change the momentum there and we did that! The middle-order role clarifies it and simplifies my game. I need to come in and score a quick raid or knock the ball around trying to take the team over. So I think it simplifies my game, and yeah, it seemed to work. (The crowd at Gabba) It's pretty awesome. The whole crowd's blue. It's like on over the Optus and the whole crowd's orange. But it's a special crowd. And kind of thanking the fans ain't enough."

The game was slipping away from the Heat as they lost their top order batters cheaply in the first nine overs of their 174-run chase. After the first ten overs, the required rate was 12.10 an over. Then they took the Power Surge after the drinks break, and chaos ensued! The home team gained a decisive advantage in the game. With assistance from Matt Renshaw, Max Bryant seized control of the innings. The batters scored 32 runs in the first two power surge overs, followed by 16 runs in the next over from Andrews. Christian introduced himself while keeping the length and line tight. The following over, however, went for 19 runs off Agar. The Thunder bowlers were hammered all over the pitch because they were unable to maintain their line and length. After smashing seven fours and four sixes in his 72 runs off 35 balls, Bryant was caught LBW by Lockie Ferguson's outstanding yorker delivery. On 48 runs, Renshaw remained at the crease. Aside from the outcome of the game, Dan Christian has had an incredible day at the pitch. He took one wicket for 25 runs in his four-over quota. Two wickets were grabbed by Lockie. The Heat are now in fourth place in the standings after their thrilling victory tonight.
