That's all of our BBL action for today. Please join us tomorrow. Until then, I, Rashad, am signing off on behalf of the ESPNcricinfo staff.
Player of the Match Tom Rogers: "(Last Over) Thanks very much. It's been a topsy-turvy week. I was really ashamed thinking I let the boys down against the Stars (Melbourne). So I really wanted to get a really good job out here tonight. I was planning on doing it with the ball but it was nice (with the bat). The Chief (Will Sutherland) stuck around and swung a bit of momentum for us and I could contribute in the end. (Post Match Celebration) It means we were so disappointed the other night, It was there for the taking and there were a couple of key moments that led us down and we had to win that game the other night to stay in touch with the competition and it was do or die really tonight. So I'm really glad we got the win. (Confident after tonight's win) Yeah, hopefully, I thought and we spoke about this as a team. We did some good things in MCG, which has some similar dimensions to here. So there were some answers of positivity coming into this fixture. But now, we're at home, the next game. So hopefully, yeah, we can swing a bit of momentum our way."
We had such a thrilling conclusion at Perth Stadium today! With both bat and ball, the game took several unexpected turns! The second innings began with the Melbourne Renegades stranded at the crease, having lost the first four wickets in ten runs. In the opening over, Behrendorff shook the Renegades' top order. In addition to bowling a maiden over, he took out Seifert and JFM. The Renegades with the Bat put on a horror show up in the order. Bethell and Evans also departed cheaply. Sutherland and Harris made a slow effort to get back on track. Harris chased a wide delivery and edged it to the wicketkeeper before being softly dismissed. Wells did not bat up the order since he exited the game in the first inning with a hamstring injury, and the Renegades were already one batter short. Sutherland and Rogers offered the Renegades faith by gradually building their partnership. The partnership of 92 runs off 56 balls shifted the game's momentum and got the Renegades back into the battle! Rogers and Sutherland each hit amazing strokes throughout the game, eventually acquiring the upper hand. Rogers was left to complete the game as the "Chief" skied the ball high in the penultimate over after scoring 70 runs off 45 balls. And wow, did he do well! Rogers took full responsibility and led the Renegades to victory with two balls to spare. He recorded a match-winning knock of 49 runs off 31 balls. The Scorchers' fielding could have been a little better; Turner missed a close run out, Tye dropped a catch of Sutherland at the mid-wicket ropes, and Turner messed up in the last over when he caught the ball at long off and parried it over the ropes. Richardson, Morris, and Behrendorff each took two wickets. With today's victory, the Renegades keep their aspirations for the tournament alive.
Ari : "@NKR Jr, that's two nights in a row!"
NKR Jr.: "There have been many close games this BBL, but this one has to have been the most improbable. "
Kiran: "What a brilliant all round performance by Sutherland, 2 wickets, less than a run a ball and 70 run with 8 boundaries. "
