7.08pm Presentation time.
D'Arcy Short is the Player of the Tournament. "Didn't really go our way at the start but the Strikers bowled well, batted well and played better," he says. "It's been a good couple of months. Didn't go our way today, let's see how it goes from here."
Jake Weatherald is the Man of the Match. "I wasn't feeling great walking out. Few nerves, but it came off well and plenty of support from Heady (Travis Head)."
"Now's not the time to lament too much," says Hurricanes captain George Bailey. "Very deserving Adelaide Strikers team. Absolutely well-deserved, guys. Well done. Our sponsors do a fantastic job, to the people of Hoabrt, the coaching staff.. it's a budy tournament, and to the guys who aren't playing, it can be hard but well done for keeping your chins up."
"Few opportunities in the past that we haven't taken," says Strikers captain Travis Head. "The fans expect us to win and it's nice to repay that faith. Weatherald won us the game with the bat and did fantastically. To George and Hobart, they've been fantastic. Special mention to D'Arcy who's been unbelievable throughout the tournament, so well done. To all the guys, it's fantastic to do it in front of our fans, so well done."
Now, the Strikers players come forward to collect their winners' medals. Travis Head's name comes up last. Along with coach Jason Gillespie, he lifts the trophy as the BBL title comes home to Adelaide for the first time amid a thunderous ovation from the crowd. We leave you with those pictures. Hope you enjoyed our coverage of this match and the tournament. It's been our pleasure to bring it to you. Cheers!
6.56pm Laughlin jumps and pumps his fists. The Strikers lift their maiden BBL crown. They gather into a huddle to celebrate their win. Thoroughly outclassed the Hurricanes today. The contrast could not have been starker. Hurricanes' bowers showed everything you shouldn't do in a T20 game; Strikers' bowlers put on a T20 clinic. Changes in pace, stifling the batsmen for room, yorkers, back-of-the-hand variations, there was just about everything you look for in a T20. Not to forget a blazing century from Jake Weatherald, who feasted on error after error from the Hurricanes bowlers to blitz one of the finest BBL hundreds you'll see. Hardly wasted a delivery, rotated the strike and kept dispatching the ball into the stands. Was especially generous in his entertainment of the folks beyond the deep midwicket boundary.
"Amazing, says an emotional Travis Head as he struggles for words. "Pretty special. Questions oer the squad. We got a lot of different guys but they all backed each other. It's worked well. The bowlers were unbelievable. They were all match-winners."
"I obviously dream of this when I go to bed, ut never imagined this, says Jake Weatherald. "They've been so supportive and it's the best way to repay them. I was going to keep it simple when I went out. I had a few chats with a few guys around the country who gave me words of wisdom. Carey's great, so good batting with him. It was cool to get a century in front of my parents and play in front of such a crowd."
Sooryanarayanan: "Rashid Khan or D'Arcy Short probably the Man of the Tournament?"
Manish Vanotra : "The strikers strike gold. Awesome performance by the Adelaide Strikers. "
Kapil: "Between overs 7-15, Hobart scrored 61 runs. With so much fire power, you can't slow down. Weatherald had his day cos of some poor bowling. No plan at all, bowled short and short. It's a shame to see a one sided final. Both WBBL and BBL"
Rohit: "This is very impressive come back by Strikers bowlers after good hitting by Bailey and Short early on, especially without Rashid and Stanlake"
Crowd on their feet for the last ball
Strikers six balls away from their maiden BBL title. And it will be Laughlin to bowl that over. He has a million to defend.
An act of annoyance after being run out for a diamond duck in the BBL final - his second offence in the last 12 months - has earned the wicketkeeper-batsman an A$6000 fine
Adelaide Strikers wanted to build a team full of winning personalities, but in addition to that, they wanted a man who could be their heart and soul
Jake Weatherald has been slower to find his feet in T20 but it has been a combination of persistence by the Adelaide Strikers and evolution on the young left-hander's part that led him to Sunday's innings
D'Arcy Short can transform himself from an explosive T20 batsman into a Test player in a similar vein to David Warner, according to Hobart Hurricanes captain, George Bailey
