Outstanding performance from the Heat to make it through to the Challenger. The Thunder will be bitterly disappointed that their season ends tonight. They were in control halfway through the bowling innings.
In case you missed the news earlier, the Challenger on Thursday night has been moved from Perth to Manuka Oval in Canberra because of a Covid issue in Perth.
Join us on Thursday night for the Challenger between Perth Scorchers and Brisbane Heat in Canberra. The winner will face the Sydney Sixers in the final at the SCG on Saturday.
10.48pm The Heat get through to the Challenger winning by seven wickets with five balls to spare. Sensational partnership from Sam Heazlett and Jimmy Peirson. Heazlett was 19 off 25 balls without a boundary and the Heat needed 89 from 48 balls when Marnus Labuschagne was run out. But Heazlett unleashed with the help of Peirson and they guided the Heat home. Heazlett finishes with a career-best 74 not out. Peirson was phenomenal again.
Sam Heazlett is Player of the Match on Channel Seven: "I was a bit scratchy at first. I didn't want to throw away my wicket and I started seeing the ball better. It was good to have Marnus keeping me calm during the middle and Jimmy whacked them at the end. It took the pressure off."
Chris Lynn on Fox: "I'm really happy for Sam Heazlett. He's had a tough trot and stuck it out. It was a good bowling effort. We kept them 15 runs short. We didn't start well but it was a good effort by the boys. We've scrapped really well throughout the year."
Callum Ferguson on Seven: "We got into a good position in the second half of the game and we just didn't execute with the ball. Heazlett managed to hurt us behind square and he picked up a couple of slower ball which threw our bowlers off. That partnership was something we didn't have in our innings and was the difference in the game."
Yuvr: "how bout them heat? made a bad start to the tournament and now one away from the SCG finale!"
Prasu: "How many slow balls has Milne bowled in his last spell ? I think it was too many"
