6.26pm That's all from our coverage of the first game, folks. There's another tonight, of course. Kolkata v Hyderbad. Going to be some game that. Stick around for it. Thanks for joining. I'll leave you with some of your own thoughts. Also, in the meantime, an exciting evening coming up for football fans: Aizawl FC, back from the brink of relegation last season, are a draw away from becoming I-League champions. You can track every minute of action from the final round of matches with our sister site ESPN.in.

sam: "Not that KXI have finally decided to give one of the best T20I batsmen in the world a few games, this could be an amazing opening partnership moving forwards."

Hussain: "There was nothing wrong with the pitch. It was the mindset of DD players."

Calcu: "Punjab must play Guptill and amla for the rest of the season. They are both in form and will make a deadly opening pair. "

Mik: "Guptil's 50 out of 68 is highest percentage of runs in an innings by a player in IPL (73.53%)"

Gareth: "Massive NRR turn around for both teams. Important from a Kings XI point of view."

hairy kiore: "Last year a "marquee" player...never got a bid...was later picked up by I think Mumbai and surprise, surprise who were not interested this year and after not getting a bid was belatedly picked up for a song by KingsX1 who have finally given him a game or two???? What more can i say?? I am referring of course to Guptil..."

Sandeep Sharma is the Man of the Match.

Maxwell: That's more like it. The last few games have been frustrating. Nice to put up a performance for the home crowd. The pitch played a lot slower than I thought it would. Expected it not to be different from the other night. It was nice to get through four overs as well.

Nair: Very disappointing, it wasn't a 67 all-out wicket. We lost too many wickets at the start. It was a lack of intent. It's difficult to pull it back from there. What's done is done, we need to pull up our socks and move on. I don't think there was anything strange in the wicket, it was maybe a little slow, but definitely not a 67 all-out wicket.

6.13pm That's that. As simple as it should have been. A good hit for Guptill as well. A flawless performance from Kings XI. The third fastest chase in the IPL, this. Daredevils had enough pain to deal with before today. This could be utterly destructive to that young side.
