10.12pm And that is all we have tonight. Thanks for staying with us tonight - we'll see you tomorrow.

Williamson: It's been a really tough season but it was great to see these small improvements. The conditions are challenging and to see the fight and the heart in the second half was great to see. It was about trying to maximise the powerplay on this pitch. The ball held in the surface and you had to take a couple of steps back to go forward again. We got to a challenging total. We knew things wouldn't happen quickly with the ball today [but stayed patient]. Nice to dismiss Maxwell - dismissing him one way or another was the thing to be done. To close it out at the death, to turn up and show the fight when we're not in contention, was great to see. Umran certainly is special. We've seen him in the nets for a couple of seasons. Special opportunity for him and it's not surprising to see him come and do well. Been a really valuable addition to the side. I try and keep it really simple with him but he's got a lot of mates in the team and they share the message and he takes the game on. It's been a challenging season and it's been some great opportunities for some youngsters. We've had a lot of last-over finishes and being on the right side of those is clearly helpful. But one thing tonight is it was satisfying for the group.

Kane Williamson is the Player of the Match.

Bhuvi: It's fine, I got hit thrice, but it's okay. If I say there were no nerves, I would be lying. For AB - I was just trying to be full, and nothing else. That was the only plan - I went for six and then I went to wide yorkers. We were thinking 10-15 runs short but the way everyone bowled was tremendous.

Kohli: The intent should always be to get it done as soon as possible. We don't want to stretch things too deep. Dev and Maxi set things up but Maxi's run out was the key moment for us. With AB you're never out of the game, but it's also a case of keeping the guy in the flow on strike. Shahbaz I think played a crucial knock at the stage and pulled us back into the game. It's a game of small margins. Things could have gone anywhere and Sunrisers held their nerves to not allow us to get away. Chahal's bowling pretty well now. Looks like he's worked on his bowling with all the time off. Him bowling well is a good sign for the team. [Umran Malik] good to see a guy bowling at 150 clicks. It's important to understand the progress of individuals from here, how to look after yourself. We've got to maximise the potential of our fast bowling stocks.

MGR: "Nice, this means, CSK is going to DC in the qualifier1."

rakesh mishra: "As a Delhi Fan , I am really happy with this result. This ensure Delhi will have double chance to get to finals ... Yohooo !"

Ramki: "RCB made the mistake of sending AB too low down the order which has pretty much costed them this game and possibly a top 2 finish."

Akhilesha : "Bhuvaneshwar Kumar needed this last over. Well bowled. I hope it helps him perform better in the next match."

Venki: "18.6 was the most crucial ball here. Holder did not allow the single, which meant Garton wasted two balls for only one run, which meant AB had to keep strike and hope for the big hits to come off, rather than try to pinch 1s/2s. Small things!"

Vaibhav: "You can't hold off your good batsman that long. ABD should've come up the order especially when the pitch was tricky. Need time to get set"

9.49pm Some joy at last for the Sunrisers. They lost their way somewhat with the bat at the end of their innings, but boy did they make sure to do the same with RCB. They needed a partnership after two early wickets - the Christian at 3 experiment failed again. Padikkal and Maxwell got them that partnership, but it was a struggle for the youngster after a point. He played the second-slowest 50-plus ball innings in IPL history today with 41 off 52. Still, the total wasn't big enough that the match got away from RCB, and Maxwell was on his way to a fourth consecutive fifty when things fell apart completely. That run-out was followed by nerves, and it was a difficult pitch to start on, which didn't help the lower-middle order. Shahbaz and AB played their little cameos, but Sunrisers did superbly with their tactics in the last two overs to seal the win. This all but confirms that CSK will finish in the top two. CSK need to lose by about 115 runs and RCB need to win by about that much for them to finish second.

Kumar to de Villiers, 1 run, another wide full toss and again AB can't get it away! Bhuvi knows something we don't. Full and wide thrice to AB in this last over and for only one run. He gets a decent connection on this again, but they had deep extra cover placed exactly for that shot. Not that it would have mattered, this wasn't hit well enough

Kumar to de Villiers, no run, misses out on a full toss! It's a high full toss too, knee height, with lots of width. AB can only drive it on the bounce to extra cover
19.4
6
Kumar to de Villiers, SIX, drills it over the bowler's head! Bhuvi misses by an inch, AB sends him miles! Driving length at off stump, AB dreams of that ball. And it comes at the perfect time, he pummels it over the bowler
19.3

Kumar to de Villiers, no run, smears the full toss straight to sweeper and refuses the run. It was outside off, and he got sweet connection, but not wide enough to contemplate a second

12 off 4, fine leg is deep. Short third, point, extra cover inside.

19.2
1
Kumar to Garton, 1 run, full and wide outside off, across him again and this time he manages to get bat on ball on the slash. It bounces out to sweeper cover

Kumar to Garton, no run, beaten on the slash! Slower ball at a length, wide outside off. He lines it up on the back knee and has a big slash at it. It's over his bat and bounces to the keeper. No attempt at a run

END OF OVER:
19 | 5 Runs 1 Wkt | RCB: 129/6 (13 runs required from 6 balls, RR: 6.78, RRR: 13.00)

  • AB de Villiers12 (9b)

  • Umran Malik4-0-21-1

13 off six. Bhuvi has the ball to Garton.

Holder to de Villiers, no run, AB misses and Holder does superbly to get to the ball before RCB can think of a single. It's full outside off, AB shuffles and gets on his back knee to try and scoop him over short fine. He's managed to turn it into a full toss but swings through too soon and this jams between his right knee and the pitch. Holder is onto that quickly to keep AB at that end

13 off 7, AB on strike.

1
Holder to Garton, 1 run, another slower ball, dug in short and going away from middle and off. Looks to pull and ends up slicing it feebly into the square leg region
18.4
W
Holder to Shahbaz Ahmed, OUT, taken at midwicket! Slower ball again, dug in short and climbing in the corridor. He jumps into the line of that and has a big hoick at it. Gets it off the sticker of the bat and it's a simple one for Williamson to his left

Shahbaz Ahmed c Williamson b Holder 14 (11m 9b 2x4 0x6) SR: 155.55

Rahul Oak: "You comment about ABD enjoying Holder is a touch unfair, IMO. Holder is a much improved white ball bowler since, and this pitch isn't the easiest to whack it on. "

Holder to Shahbaz Ahmed, no run, oh keep this one in mind if this match gets tight n about ten minutes. It's a slower ball, short and cutting a long way past Shahbaz outside off. He shuffled but this kept going away and he left it. Not a wide, deems the umpire
18.2
2
Holder to Shahbaz Ahmed, 2 runs, full slower ball at middle stump, mistimed slog past midwicket at catchable height. Deep square cleans up to the right
18.1
2
Holder to Shahbaz Ahmed, 2 runs, Bhuvneshwar puts one down! Oh boyyyy. Right at him at sweeper cover. This is full, offcutter outside off. He steps out and has a slice at it this away from the body. Bhuvi moves a touch to his left and brings out the reverse cup, but that slips out

END OF OVER:
18 | 11 Runs | RCB: 124/5 (18 runs required from 12 balls, RR: 6.88, RRR: 9.00)

  • Shahbaz Ahmed10 (5b)
  • AB de Villiers12 (8b)
  • Umran Malik4-0-21-1
  • Rashid Khan4-0-39-1

Jason Holder for the 19th. AB de Villiers certainly enjoys batting against Holder and would have had him as one to target. But for now, Shahbaz on strike.

17.6
1
Umran Malik to Shahbaz Ahmed, 1 run, full and wide outside off, driven on the rise to sweeper cover

Umran Malik to Shahbaz Ahmed, FOUR, gets it over point! Low full toss outside off, gets down on one knee and opens the face late to get it right where he wanted it

Umran Malik to de Villiers, 1 run, good length and tight into the body, watchfully pushed to midwicket

Umran Malik to Shahbaz Ahmed, FOUR, short and into middle stump, swivels and puts his first ball away over midwicket with a pull

END OF OVER:
17 | 9 Runs 1 Wkt | RCB: 113/5 (29 runs required from 18 balls, RR: 6.64, RRR: 9.66)

  • AB de Villiers11 (7b)
  • Shahbaz Ahmed0 (0b)
  • Rashid Khan4-0-39-1
  • Siddarth Kaul4-1-24-1

Here's Umran, around to Shahbaz. In Umran's only List A match, he went for 98 off 10 overs. Shahbaz got 48 off 17 in that match. He's seen Umran before. And Umran has seen him.

16.6
4
Rashid Khan to de Villiers, FOUR, shot! Puts the pressure right back on SRH and closes off Rashid's spell with a four. This is full and just outside off, gets forward to reach it and uses the pace to get the reverse sweep into the open point region
16.5
W
Rashid Khan to Padikkal, OUT, holes out to deep midwicket to end an innings he will like to forget quickly. It didn't come off, not even a little, today for Padikkal. Nice of his team-mates to clap for him as he gets back into the dugout. Rashid was toying with him, first googlies, then short ball, just inviting him to have a hit. Then he cramped him with a skidder at length and Padikkal's big pull wasn't big enough

Rashid Khan to de Villiers, 1 run, bowled from well behind the crease as he gets this full and dipping rapidly on AB. He's shaped to sweep but the ball has landed quicker than he expected and he gets a thick inside edge on it, out to deep square

Rashid Khan to Padikkal, 1 run, good length outside off, steps out and has a slash at it away from his body. Thick inside edge down to long-on
