11:51pm That will be all from us for tonight. We will be back with more IPL action tomorrow, with another double-header on the cards. Until then, from all of us here at ESPNcricinfo, it is goodbye!

Sanju Samson, Player of the Match: Really means a lot. The trust they (CSK franchise) showed in me, it was a very responsible feeling that I need to put in a show and say we are still in the tournament. Not easy to start off at a different franchise but it never felt like it. It was like coming to a second home. We just had a meeting of 50 seconds today (despite three losses) - that connects with the kind of person I am (smiles). I failed a lot. Failing a lot tells you how to come back. Mentally, you think if you need to go hard or change the game-plan. You need to bring your body and mind to basics. Basics are to get in a mentally different zone. We need to come back to timing the ball, and watching it come out nicely from the bowler's hand. Very happy things have come (out) nicely today. Very important to have a great partnership. It never looked like he (Mhatre) was coming out of U-19 - he was so calculative. Shows the character he has. (On his hundred celebration) That was for Fleming. I know how hard it can get, leading a franchise for five years. Just wanted to dedicate this (innings) to Fleming.

Ruturaj Gaikwad, CSK captain: Feels good to finally get the win. Great performance. Always felt that coming here, we had been batting well. To post 200-210, when wicket is on slower side, we were showing good signs. One of those knocks where Sanju took to the opposition, played a magnificent knock. Ayush also. But today was about the bowling. Taking wickets, bowling aggressive lengths. We do not have that X-Factor in the bowling, but we have been discussing on how to be more effective and more proactive. In the last few games, we were almost there. Some big overs cost us. Bowling wise, we were on the mark (tonight). We were set back in the powerplay but we came back after it. Chennai fans are always behind us - have been receiving so many messages, good wishes. Wherever we go, they are backing us. That is what this side of the country is - wonderful people and loving the franchise.

Axar Patel, DC captain: We started well but after the powerplay, we lost quick wickets and that broke the momentum. The fielding was the difference in the match. Wickets falling in clusters made it tough to regain momentum. Batters did a decent job but overall, our fielding was a let-down. (On the score) Want to credit the bowlers, to keep them to that score, despite them having set batters on a good wicket. A couple of dropped catches, had we taken them, it might have been different. Pitch did not change. It was a little more difficult for them (with the dew in the second innings) but they bowled pretty well.

Jamie Overton: Very happy. Good to finally get a win in front of our home crowd. Couple of games have not quite gone my way. Feeling good since December in the Big Bash. Have been bowling good gas and have been trying to keep it going. (On his plan today) Just trying to hit the top of the stumps. Bit tacky (pitch), and some felt like it slipped through, some jumped up. Tried to reduce their cross-batted shots. (On his injury) It is fine. Just a bit of cramp.

11:31pm A commanding win in the end, fashioned by a stellar spell by Overton, who picked up his best IPL figures, and also notched up the best figures so far this season. His ability to hit hard lengths at pace caused DC loads of problems, and that ploy was replicated by Gurjapneet on debut too. CSK also caught well and that, plus the other bowlers doing their bit, meant that they never ceded control of the game after the powerplay.

DC will be disappointed with their batting effort. There were no demons in the pitch and DC got off to a brisk start themselves, only to lose momentum through the middle. There were starts throughout but apart from Stubbs, none of the batters batted long enough to mount a sustained challenge.

Kamboj to Ngidi, OUT, taken at short third, and that is a fitting end to this contest! CSK are on the board at the fourth time of asking and they have won at Chepauk for the first time in seven attempts! Pushed across the batter outside off. Ngidi wafts at it and the ball flies off the outside edge. Gobbled up neatly by Gurjapneet, and cue the celebrations now. More relief than anything, given the history of this franchise, and this has comfortably been their best performance this season!

Kamboj to Ngidi, no run, full and wide outside off. Ngidi keeps swinging like a rusty gate and seems to get a nick on it. Kamboj appeals, only to soon realize this was a Free hit. Umpire has a smile on his face too!

Kamboj to Ngidi, 1 no ball, speared across the batter outside off. Quite full too and Ngidi, swinging at it with all his might, does not make contact. But Kamboj has overstepped. You have got to be kidding me!

Three legal balls and CSK will be home
