That does it for this game. What a Friday this has been. Low-scoring thriller, high-scoring scorcher, and of course, highlight of the day - and who would have thought this would happen- two hat-tricks in a day. We hope you enjoyed all of it, as well as our coverage. Double-header again tomorrow and it promises plenty of action. Come back then to join us. For now, goodbye from all of us here. Thank you for joining us.
"It's a good format of cricket, but traditionally, I would still love to play Test cricket. The slower ball worked very well for me", says Andrew Tye, Man of the Match. "Every wicket is different around the world, so you have to assess conditions to find out which ball works where."
"I think when we lost two games, it was difficult for us to come back strongly", says Lions captain Suresh Raina. "I thought AJ bowled brilliantly. He is a very smart cricketer who varies his pace, especially in the death overs. Jason Roy missed out today, but then Baz and Smith did it for us. They have done it for CSK and they did it again today."
Aditi: "Cricket has become so brutal. Fun but alien. And there are kids watching for whom this is how it's played."
11.16pm That was some display of power hitting. Dwayne Smith and Brendon McCullum, how many times they have done this? It was an opening burst that simply razed Supergiant and they never quite recovered from that despite a few wickets in the middle overs. Lions win with two overs to spare and this will come in handy for their poor net run rate.
Abdullah: "Today, I felt that the young local fast bowlers, Basil Thampi and Shardul Thakur did pretty well, but they go unnoticed due to other dominant performances, am I right Akshay?" Absolutely. Thakur, especially. And his change-ups in pace in his final over were pretty impressive.
gulzar: "What a fantastic bowling both by s badree and andrew tye"
Akshay: "I still wonder why GL tried different combination than last year in few matches, this team looks strong. Just missing Bravo"
"I don't think that wicket really changed over the course of 40 overs," says Supergiant captain Steven Smith. "It was a pretty good wicket. We got ourselves into a good position but lost a few wickets in clumps and we weren't good enough tonight. The surface played better than we thought it would. When Dwayne and McCullum get going, it's hard to stop them and we could not come back after that. One of the disadvantages of being a new team, Gujarat are on the same boat, we are still trying to find out our best XI. A few guys put their hands up tonight, which was good."
Sashi Kurucheti: "Finally some redemption for Andrew Tye.. Remember him bowling the 20th over in IndvAus 3rd t20 last year and one other match too, and being at the receiving end on both occasions unable to defend some big runs.."
