11.44pm That's all we have from tonight's game which has seen KKR overtake Sunrisers on the table. It's a double-header tomorrow, CSK vs Titans and LSG vs Royals. Don't forget to tune in early for the first game. Until then, it's goodbye and good luck from me, Vishal Dikshit, and Deiva Muthu. Have a good night!
Shreyas Iyer: Our mindset we came with in this game was outstanding, we were positive and it was really important to win this toss. Batting first in Pune teams have won a lot of matches. We were going over by over while batting, plan was to give Russell as much strike as possible and we were praying that he plays the last over because Washington had an over left. It worked out pretty well. 177 against them was over par, the way Sunny [Narine] and Varun stepped up on a slow wicket, they were pretty smart and we never let them [Sunrisers] get under our skin. We don't have anything to lose right now, we haven't played our A game so far in the league. We really stepped up pretty well today. And also I want to clarify from the last interview, when I took the CEO's name [for team selections], I meant he's there to console the players who are sitting out, it's never easy for them.
Russell: When I went out there, batting wasn't easy. 165-170 was very good and we got eight runs over. We have a good bowling attack and two good spinners. My mindset is very clear when I go out to bat, not thinking about situations. My job is to go after it from ball one, sometimes I hit the first ball in the nets for a six. When I saw 20 off 17 on the scoreboard, I thought, "that's not me," but you have to fight it out sometimes. Before the last ball of the 19th over I said: "Sunil, just try to get a boundary, let me take strike in the last over," because of an offspinner bowling the last over. I got three full tosses and I did put them away. Always look to chip in with the ball and do something special in the field.
Southee: It was a great win. A big win is pleasing. I've been around long enough to know that chances come and go, overseas players have to sit on the sidelines, and you have to be ready when the chances come. It's tough to replicate match situation in the nets, but you try, and you back yourself in the field and use your experience. Back of a length was tough to hit and we stuck to that, the spinners did their job, and Naine was able to pull things back after his first two overs.
Williamson: Largely the first half was reasonable without making more of a dent. It was a fair total and Russell got those big runs in the end. With the bat we weren't able to get the momentum to set the platform or get those partnerships. Strong performance by KKR and we've struggled to get that momentum in those last few games, which we need for the remaining games. We wanted to take wickets [so bowled Bhuvneshwar and Umran early and kept Washington for the last over], it was always going to be a tough over. Washy has stepped up for last overs, using our resources early was something we had planned but it didn't work out. We wanted a decent start and Abhishek is hitting the ball beautifully, there were glimpses and signs of setting a platform but it wasn't to be and that was frustrating. [There are] Some consistencies to it (his own struggles), hit to the fielders, then try to hit big and walk back. It teaches you a lesson so some learnings for me there.
Aqueel : "What a turn around for SRH after 5 wins straight now 5 losses, looks its end of road for them"
11.16pm It's not been a great season for KKR, but tonight they stepped up for a big win, by 54 runs, to stay alive in the tournament. Handshakes all around, Russell has a big smile on his face and has a chat with Umran Malik. KKR have jumped to sixth place now, their NRR has gone up from -0.057 to 0.160. For Sunrisers, it is their fifth loss on the bounce after starting the tournament with five wins in a row. What a change of fortunes for them. Of the eight teams left for the playoffs, they are right at the bottom now, the only team with eight points, and an NRR of -0.270. They never really looked in the chase today, except when Abhishek Sharma was batting, and they will need an overhaul of either Williamson's batting or their top order so revive whatever is left for them now.
Aashish: "Frustrating having watched srh this year- started so well.. But for some reason the management wasn't willing to make changes.. they don't deserve to make it through.. Between RCB and DD looks like"
KKR have a marginally better chance because of their superior NRR, but a lot of results must go their way if they hope to progress

Sunrisers' head coach also says that the team "lost a little bit of confidence" after injuries to Washington Sundar and T Natarajan
Neither team is out of the running for a playoffs berth, but the odds are stacked against them
