42.3 The change of angle has worked for Vinay Kumar and Mukund's vigil has been ended. This one comes in with the angle from outside off on a back of a length, Mukund, hoping for the ball to move away, offers no shot, giving it a free pathway to rattle the top of middle. And with this, Vinay gets to 300 Ranji wickets 69/6
7 Big wicket for Karnataka. They draw first blood as Vijay is trapped plumb in front of middle. Vinay brings this fuller ball back into Vijay, who gets a decent stride forward, but fails to nudge the ball to the leg side and is struck on the pad. That looked plumb and the umpire raises his dreaded finger after a delay and Vinay exults 13/1
8.4 gottim! Bowled through the gate. The umpires check for a possible no ball but Vinay is fine on that count as well. Aprajith trudges back to the hut. This was the inswinger again, he seeks to push at it with lazy footwork, but the ball sneaks through the gate to hit the top of the off stump. The bail is tipped off, signalling Aprajith's doom 21/2
15.3 DK is gone now. TN find themselves in an early strife at 34 for 3. This was an impressive ball from Sharath - dug in short and comes back in - DK was looking to arch his back, drop his wrists and leave it for the keeper again. The ball may have slipped off the glove to Uthappa. The umpire gives it and DK shakes his head in disappointment as he walks back. He had every reason to be disappointed as the ball grazed the chest on its way to the keeper. DK clutches his chest as he heads off forlornly 34/3
24.5 Vinay Kumar returns and strikes. Fuller and cuts back in late to beat Shankar's defence and strike him on the back pad in line with the stumps. Easy call for the umpire and TN are four down. Shankar did not account for the inward movement there and his footwork also left a lot to be desired 49/4
35.5 Prasanna has nicked off. Full teaser outside off, Prasanna chases it with a loose drive. Aravind claims the outside edge, which settles safely into the gloves of Robin Uthappa. Aravind gets mobbed by his team-mates. TN slump further. 63/5
58 The short ball consumes Indrajith as Gopal snaps up a sharp catch. Dug in by Mithun, Indrajith loads up for a pull, but does not impart requisite power behind it. Mistimes it to Gopal at short midwicket, who pouches it smartly 105/8
55.5 Rangarajan has gloved it to the keeper. This was banged in short, leaps just outside off. Rangarajan hops up and gets into a tangle as he aims to fend it away. He can only glove it and the ball pops to Robin Uthappa. The umpire, though, took his time to raise the finger. Mithun had his hands aloft in joy even before the finger went up 100/7
62.4 TN have been bowled out for 134. Vinay claims another five-wicket haul. Another short ball, another wicket. Crist aims to swipe this over midwicket, but his balance is all awry as he top-edges it high into the air. Uthappa gets under it to perform the final rites on Tamil Nadu's first innings 134/10
61.3 Balaji dies by the sword. He takes a step forward, Mithun is smart enough to deliver a lifter. Balaji can only top-edge the attempted pull. The ball balloons into the air, Bhavne follows the ball from short leg, tracks back and settles under it 123/9

3.5 edged and taken. Samarth is sent packing. Is this the opening Tamil Nadu were looking for? Good length ball in the channel of uncertainty, some late movement to add to it. Samarth is late to pull his bat away. The ball snatches the outside edge, Vijay at second slip snags a low catch, diving to his right 16/1
136.2 Finally, a breakthrough for TN. Shankar looks skywards in relief. Tossed up close to off, Rahul chips down the track, does not come close to the pitch of the ball and miscues the loft. Dragged to long-on, where Shankar pouches it safely. No double century for Rahul. 470/6
4.2 Bhavne is gone for a duck. Oh wait, the umpires are checking for a no-ball. It looks fine, Bhavne tucks his bat under his shoulder and walks back. Fuller accompanied by some away movement outside off, Bhavne pokes at it and edges it to third slip, where Indrajith snaffles it 16/2
5.5 Tamil Nadu are clawing their way back into this contest. Balaji is pleased as punch. He draws Uthappa forward with a full ball, which nibbles away outside off. He pushes at it, gets a regulation edge to third slip, Indrajith helps himself to his second catch after moving to his right. Karnataka have been reduced to 16 for 3. 16/3
11.3 leading edge and it pops to the covers. Good length ball on middle, Manish seeks to flick it over midwicket, but closes the face of the bat early. The leading edge loops to the covers and Aprajith takes it. That was the definition of a dolly 31/4

200.1 Karun has to go! Vijay walks up and congratulates him on his marathon. This was full and slides onto Karun, who was perhaps waiting on the back foot for a short ball. He misses it and is struck on the front pad plumb in front. The umpire raises his finger and that ends a stupendous knock 643/8
24.3 Rangarajan strikes. This was pushed through, turns it to beat Mithun's defence and hit him on the back pad in front of off and middle. Umpire Anil Chaudhary takes his time and raises his finger. 84/5
143.1 Gopal has been strangled down leg for 11. Crist has a reason to celebrate. This was an innocuous delivery - back of a length and down leg - Gopal does not get enough bat on the glance. He can only tickle it through to DK. The ball kissed the inside edge, popped off the thigh to the keeper 501/7

219.4 Aravind has to depart. Very full and and on the pads, Aravind seeks to flick, but can only chip it tamely to the helmeted sub fielder at short leg, who is deepish. Nice, sharp, one-handed take from Shahrukh Khan. 726/9
231.2 Karnataka have been bowled out for 762. Yes, you read that right, they have been bowled out. This was lobbed up outside off, Sharath is lured out of the crease, but he misses the big blow, he was aiming for a hoick over the leg side. Indrajith, who had taken over the gloves from DK, whips the bails off in a flash to catch Sharath short. Rangarajan has his third wicket 762/10

10.2 gottim! This one spins in quickly from off, shortish in length, Mukund rocks back and aims to force a cut through the covers, but misses it completely. It was too close to cut and he pays the penalty as the ball rattles the stumps, the middle stump is pegged back. Gopal exults 30/1
18.3 big appeal for lbw, and he's gone. Vijay thrust his front pad forward and across his stumps to defend, I think he was playing for the outswing. It came in a touch instead and smacked him at around knee-roll height, and looked to be going on to hit middle stump. They checked for no-ball, but that's not an issue, his heel just about landed behind the crease 47/2
60.3 Sharp take from Uthappa! Has Aprajith been caught down leg? The TV umpire has been pressed into service. Aprajith is already on his haunches. That's a clean catch and the finger is raised now as the decision has been relayed. This was slipped down leg, he does not get enough bat on it, tickles it. Uthappa dives across to his left and collects it. The ball popped out, but Uthappa held it on the second attempt. He is mobbed by his team-mates. Soft, soft dismissal for Aprajith 191/4
27 he's thrown it away, this is poor from Indrajith. Again goes on the back foot to a not-particularly-short ball, and goes for a late cut. He doesn't really have time to place it, and ends up hitting it straight to the man at slip. Excellent catch from Vinay, it was going quickly to his right, at shoulder height, but he reacted quickly and took it with two hands, made it look simple. 79/3
81 Vinay strikes with the new ball and breaks the stand. Dug in short and climbs sharply, Shankar goes for a pull, but only manages to shoot it up in the air off a top-edge. Vinay settles under it safely 306/5
96.1 Gopal has the last laugh. He causes DK to hole out to deep cover. Tossed up, DK uses his feet and lofts it inside-out. Aravind takes a simple catch and Gopal throws a fierce stare at the departing batsman 379/7
87.5 Karnataka are just four wickets away form an innings win. Pitched up and outside off, sucks Prasanna into a drive. The ball brushes the outside edge and sits snugly in the palms of Manish Pandey at second slip 344/6
107.5 Karnataka retain the Ranji trophy! Its all over for Tamil Nadu. Delirious scenes in the Karnataka camp. Parameswaran is injured and will not bat. This was a full ball moving away from batsman, he looks to guide it away and pokes it out to Manish Pandey at wide slip. Vinay races across and plucks out a stump as a souvenir. Pandey also wants it, looks to snatch it away from Vinay. But the captain has the final say 411/9
98.1 a big appeal for stumping from Gopal and Uthappa. The latter looks confident. TV umpire is called in. Tossed up on off and spins away sharply, lures Crist forward as well. He is soundly beaten in the flight. Uthappa whips the bails off before Crist could drag his back foot back. He perishes for a duck 379/8
