United Arab Emirates 230 & 17 for 1 beat Namibia 90 & 155 (Van der Westhuizen 49, Aziz 5-48) by 9 wickets
Scorecard
United Arab Emirates thrashed Namibia on the second day of the four-day match by restricting them to 155 in the second innings as Nasir Aziz took his maiden five-for in first-class matches. Namibia were staring at an innings defeat after UAE took a 140-run first-innings lead and left Namibia tottering at 67 for 6, still 73 runs behind, but Louis van der Westhuizen's 49 saved them fleetingly.
UAE added 69 more to their overnight lead of 71 runs as five of their last six batsmen scored in single digits. The only noticeable partnership was for the eighth wicket between Swapnil Patil, who resumed at 14, and Ahmed Raza (25) who put on 40 runs. Christi Viljoen ended the partnership and took four of the last five wickets to finish with 4 for 32.
Namibia's attempt to post a big target fell flat when Shadeep Silva took the first three wickets, all lbw, and only one of their top six batsmen scored in double digits. The innings was revived by Nicolaas Scholtz and van der Westhuizen with a 60-run stand for the seventh wicket. Scholtz fell for 31 and van der Westhuizen was dismissed when Namibia were at 140, which made sure UAE would have to bat again. Offspinner Aziz wrapped-up the lower order and Namibia set UAE 16 runs to chase, during which they lost the wicket of Shaiman Anwar for a duck.
