So then, that's the way the cookie crumbles for the Lions. They have done very well for themselves, impressing their home crowd and beating Mumbai and Guyana. Not good enough for the semis though. Bangalore and South Australia march ahead. Sid Monga's bulletin captures the thrills and spills of the day here. Lots to play for in Group A, where there are two games coming up tomorrow, including the all-important Chennai v Warriors game. Do tune in for that one. On behalf of team ESPNcricinfo, this is Nitin Sundar signing off for the day. Cheers!

Presentations coming up. Kohli is the MoM "Really happy to be there till the end, and the team won. I was really disappointed about the last game after taking it to the last ball. Happy to do it this time. T20 games turn in one over. I was waiting for it, and it came in the 17th over. I messed up with Uthappa's run out and apologised to him.. He is a good friend, doesn't mind that (smiles)" I am reminded of him running out Kevin Pietersen in the IPL. There were no jokes on that occasion though!

Petersen: "We fought all the way and played as a team. Our success should not be measured by where we finished, but by the obstacles we crossed. We were about 20 runs short. Kumble tied us up a bit. The best team won - all the best to Bangalore for the semis"

Kumble: "As long as wickets were there, and Virat was in with Whitey, we knew it was about one good over. Virat's spell was critical, myself and him.. Dillon and Steyn bowled really well in the end. I was disappointed with my performance in the previous game, no better time to step up than in the next game. Nice to go back to Durban. (Smiles when asked about who he supports for tomorrow) Hope Chennai makes it there."

Senthil: "Some one said no Indian performed for RCB in the previous match against South Australia.... now RCB is thru to semis coz of Kumble, Dravid, Pandey and Kohli's performances!" True.

Virat Kohli is the man of the moment. He was left on his haunches, desolate and depressed after the tragic defeat against Mumbai. Today he ensured it did not even get that close. 49 runs scored with murderous intent in 29 balls, and that 17th over from O'Reilly cinched it. Well played young man! Don't forget Kumble though. His drop of Bravo probably cost Bangalore that game against Mumbai. He came on today, choked Lions, got Petersen bowled, and put his side on course for a win.

de Bruyn to White, 1 run, Ladies and gentlemen, we have an IPL team in the Champions League at long last! Full toss on middle and leg, and White bunts it over the infield on the leg side. The Lions have stopped roaring. Bangalore have marched into the last four.

O'Reilly to Kohli, SIX, SHOT! Another length ball, on off stump, Kohli opens up the off side and goes WHACK straight over the bowler's head. No backlift, no follow through. None needed when you time it like that!

6
O'Reilly to Kohli, SIX, what a shot! That is a short boundary alright, and it was minimal effort from Kohli as he got inside the line and played that swat-flick which had Mumbai in trouble the other day. Six over deep square leg
