Scorer: Sanjay Murari
Jean Symes is ecstatic, and why not? Alviro Petersen is much more composed, a wide grin and some polite clapping from him to celebrate the victory.
Lions made it needlessly tight, with some muddle-headed batting in the second half of the innings, but Symes stepped up in the final two overs to seal it. It has been the highest quality of cricket on display today.
Varun: "6 of first 16 and 21 of next 6......Symes has done a MS to knock MS' side out !"
Freddy notes: "Good old T20 lesson for Yorkshire. Your best bowler should always bowl the 19th over during the chase."
Andrew Gale: "I thought we were 20 runs light at the halfway stage, but we bowled well and took it to the final over. We are missing some of our main players from the domestic competition, but it has been a great experience for our guys."
Alviro Petersen: "I thought the bowling was excellent, the batting... I thought we could do more. We discussed halfway through the game that DL could be a factor, towards the end they bowled some dot balls, but there were some calm heads out there."
Man of the Match is Jean Symes: "It was a bit of a challenge coming in and not being able to hit off the middle straight up. I would like to hit it a little bit cleaner and get a faster start."
Husain: "So the rest of the games in this group are dead...?" Yes. that isn't stopping Kanishkaa Balachandran from doing the commentary for Mumbai Indians v Chennai Super Kings. Cheer him up here.
Can't be too harsh on Hannon-Dalby, this is his first T20 game
The Lions, after a few years of mediocrity, are showing signs of revival with a newfound belief
