Miller, Akshar ace Kings XI chase

The Kings XI Punjab production line of batsmen was under threat of being shortcircuited again. But Akshar Patel strode in at No. 8 and clobbered 20 runs off the penultimate over to script a second successive victory in Mohali

So that wraps up our coverage of another super chase from Kings XI. The battle between the Kings XI batting line up and the Northern Knights' bowling might be one to watch later in the tournament. We have two more CLT20 clashes coming up tomorrow. Join us then. Goodnight.

Sameera Perera is feeling the love for his namesake, and countrymen in general: "Overall, the three Sri Lankans were the best in both teams"

Miller is man of the match: "Only towards the end did it hit one out of the ground. Akshar made it easy and took a lot of pressure off my shoulders. I was lucky up front, getting a few chances, but once I'm in I back myself to hit the boundaries. It's a see-ball-hit-ball type mentality. We've got some great spinners and some quicks. Perera is showing some strength for the team. He can clear the boundary and takes wickets as well."

Bailey: "Long may our chasing record continue. We get off to great starts. Once again we did that and we're thereabouts with the run rate. For a guy like Akshar to come in and hit his first 9 balls for 26 runs is extraordinary. It's a beautiful batting wicket. I was proud of the way we bowled today."

We'll have the presentation for you shortly.

Sehwag: "No one expected Patel to bat the way he did. The six he hit off Rampaul was amazing. It's a good track to bat on. A little bit slow. A couple of balls spun when Mendis bowled, but overall it was a good T20 wicket."

Emrit: "I thought with two overs to go, we should have had it with 26 runs to defend. Ravi is our most experienced bowler. Another day he will get it right, but it didn't happen today. We had spoken among the kinds of lengths we needed to bowl."

Mohan: "Some one wrote, if Max fails Miller, if then Bailey, if then Perera, Adding Patel to that list"

Some terrific work from Tridents' spinners to pull this game back, but oh boy, what batting from the Kings XI. It's got to be said that the Rampaul over that swung it in the Kings XI direction was a poor one. Still, Patel was good enough to cash in. Emrit, understandably, doesn't look happy.

Holder to Miller, SIX, that's it! No need for this to go down to the wire. Holder overpitches just outside off. Miller just launches that, almost casually, over wide long off. Clean as a whistle.

Holder to Miller, no run, Miller makes room, but Holder goes the other way and bowls a full toss way outside off. It's just inside the tram lines and Miller can't connect

Saleem: "Slowly and silently Rampaul scores a 50 from non-strikers end."

Holder to Patel, 1 run, short of a length on the stumps, Patel makes room and chops it to the offside sweeper

Holder to Miller, 1 run, that's a thigh-high no ball. Miller tries to slam it straight, but gets a top edge that drops at around point

Holder to bowl the last.

Rampaul to Patel, SIX, the no-look hook. Patel has stolen this one right back for Kings XI. Is there nothing this team can't do with the bat? Patel tried to make room, but Rampaul follows him with a bouncer. Patel hooks anyway, taking his eyes off long before he connects, but what a connection!. That's way over the deep square leg boundary.

Rampaul to Patel, FOUR, luck for Patel. But it's not great death bowling for sure. That's length outside off stump once more. Patel tried to hit through cover, gets a thick edge, and it runs to the third man fence.
  • 'See myself as batting allrounder'- Akshar

Kings XI Punjab's Akshar Patel said he was happy with the opportunity to show his potential as a batting allrounder during the side's four-wicket win against Barbados Tridents
