- BATSMENRBM4s6sSR13.6 and he's gone! So the wait for 10,000 goes on a bit longer. And it's the round-the-wicket line which has done it. Short of a length outside off, Cook jabs at it - well away from his body - and it's an excellent tumbling catch at second slip 39/148.5 stunning catch! Hales sensed a chance to pump up the tempo, but he picked the wrong ball to chase there! Too tight for the cut, but Mathews at slip was so alert, almost premeditating his dive as he clung on in one hand, reaching to his right! 160/326.1 Compo! Lakmal! What a shot and what a catch! A wild pull, nowhere the middle of the bat, and a spiralling top-edge flies out to deep square leg, where :Lakmal clings on to an absolute stunner, reaching high above his head, toppling back, and landing with a thump, inches inside the rope. His reaction is so motionless, most of his team-mates assume he's spilled it, or touched the boundary, but not a bit of it! That, alas, was the shot of an anxious man. and the catch of a player who wasn't about to let his opponents' luck turn... 64/264.5 out of nowhere! Root has spooned to cover. A back-of-a-length delivery, Root looking to turn the ball to the on side at first glance and pops it high into the off side, giving cover the chance to settle under an easy catch 219/467.4 another ripping catch and another giveaway from England! Tossed up outside off, inviting the drive, Vince goes for it and can't keep the ball down. Short cover dives to his right to hold a sharp chance. 227/586.2 whoops! Bairstow has a chop outside off to a ball that kept a bit low, and Chandimal's numb fingers just about get under the ball. England's innings continues as a collection of impressive but incomplete contributions 297/6108.6 a flashy drive, and this time Woakes does feather his edge. Nearly identical to the first ball of the over, Woakes was looking to put bat on ball, and pays the price as Lakmal tightens his line, finds a nudge of movement, and makes the overdue breakthrough 389/7111.2 and there we go, another nick, and Broad is on his way. More sharp nip off the seam to lure the loose drive, and Mendis clings on to his second edge of the morning. An astute bit of swapsies behind the stumps 400/8125.3 300 wickets for Herath! Finally it arrives. Finn goes for a slog sweep, gets a big top edge and Herath steadies under the catch himself 472/9Extras9 (b 1, lb 8)TOTAL498/9d (132 Overs, RR: 3.77)Fall of wickets: 1-39 (Alastair Cook, 13.6 ov), 2-64 (Nick Compton, 26.1 ov), 3-160 (Alex Hales, 48.5 ov), 4-219 (Joe Root, 64.5 ov), 5-227 (James Vince, 67.4 ov), 6-297 (Jonny Bairstow, 86.2 ov), 7-389 (Chris Woakes, 108.6 ov), 8-400 (Stuart Broad, 111.2 ov), 9-472 (Steven Finn, 125.3 ov)

- BATSMENRBM4s6sSR2.4 bowled round the legs! Whoops, he tried to flick one off the pads, and I don't really know how the ball ended up there. He's loitering at the crease, as if confused by the mode of dismissal. But Anderson's shape has been from leg to off, so it stands to reason that a ball outside leg would hit leg! 10/111.6 England reckon this is caught behind! The batsman stands while they check if it carried to Bairstow. An outside edge as he pressed forward. Was certainly a low take, but looked clean on first glance. England are convinved. Well, it's fairly tight. Has it bounced in the finger tips of the gloves? Could be tricky. Third umpire needs conclusive evidence it hasn't carried; soft signal on the field was out. Rod Tucker wants it zooming in. Very close call. Tucker now seems happy that it's into the fingertips of glove cleanly. Yes, he is. That's out. Excellent process by the third umpire as we could hear him talking us through the replays. Very informative 44/221.1 and another! England on a roll, again. Short of a length delivery (having just said wickets have come from pitch-up balls) which squares up Mendis as he defends on the back foot and takes the shoulder of the bat to gully 67/514.6 taken at first slip! No frustration for Anderson this time. More classy bowling from, probing away outside off, Chandimal playing with fairly hard hands again and it carries at knee height to Cook. 53/317.6 Woakes has a huge wicket on his comeback! Mathews given caught behind, but he's gone for the review (this time, you might say). And, yes, Hot Spot is clearly there on the outside edge. There was also a big noise. This was a good delivery, tight around off stump, Mathews had to play and it just nipped away. 58/443.3 all over. Compton takes the catch, not so elegant but it will do. All smiles as Anderson is slightly disbelieving of how tough Compton made that clanger look. A full delivery on middle and leg, Thirmanne goes for an ugly hoick and gets a leading edge. Lobs to point. Compton sets himself for the catch, takes it off balance and almost falls over. 101/1021.6 oh dear, they are falling in heap here! Edges behind, this delivery didn't really bounce like the others, he was pushing away from his body and it's another catch for Bairstow 67/638.2 there's the end of the longest stand of the series. A good lifter from a full length, nothing much Herath can do but squirt a spliced chance into the cordon. 88/738.5 oh wow, that's remarkable! A loose swipe outside off, a fast flying chance to third slip, where Vince leaps high above his head, parries the chance, for Root to swoop round and gobble the rebound in one hand! Think Tavare and Miller at Melbourne in 1982-83, for instance ... but with extra venom in the original chance! 90/840.3 and Broad has his first of the day. Didn't look far away anyway. A good length delivery outside off, holds its line to take the outside edge of Lakmal's prodding bat. Bairstow takes it easily in front of his thighs. Lakmal has a look at his partner but a huge edge was known to everyone 93/9Extras2 (lb 1, nb 1)TOTAL101 all out (43.3 Overs, RR: 2.32)Fall of wickets: 1-10 (Dimuth Karunaratne, 2.4 ov), 2-44 (Kaushal Silva, 11.6 ov), 3-53 (Dinesh Chandimal, 14.6 ov), 4-58 (Angelo Mathews, 17.6 ov), 5-67 (Kusal Mendis, 21.1 ov), 6-67 (Milinda Siriwardana, 21.6 ov), 7-88 (Rangana Herath, 38.2 ov), 8-90 (Shaminda Eranga, 38.5 ov), 9-93 (Suranga Lakmal, 40.3 ov), 10-101 (Lahiru Thirimanne, 43.3 ov)

- BATSMENRBM4s6sSR16.3 edged and taken. That angle has continuously troubled Karunaratne. This time, he gets a thick outside edge and comfortably taken by Root at second slip. Angled away from the batsman who pokes at the full length. An impressive fight but Sri Lanka needed a lot more 38/151.6 and he's struck! Silva gets into a tangle against a back-of-a-length delivery, goes to help it into the leg side and gets a top edge which loops behind...Bairstow runs around towards the slips to gather it. But they are checking the no-ball...it's very tight, but just okay! Relief for Finn. 182/421.6 that will ease any frustrations! A absolute beauty which nips away around off stump, squares up Mendis, and takes the outside to give Bairstow another catch 79/230.4 what a ball! Terrific from Moeen, takes out the off stump. Pitches on off stump and turns just enough to beat the outside edge and demolish the timber. The previous few deliveries hadn't spun, then this one gripped. Lovely sight for an offspinner 100/363.4 that's done him! The captain's fine innings is over. Another lovely piece of classy seam bowling from Anderson. On a length at off stump, just enough nibble to take the edge as Mathews pokes a little tentatively. Perhaps distracted by the previous delivery 222/5125.5 and his fine innings is over! Chandimal going for a heave over the off side, he's through the shot early and the top of the off stump is clipped. Might have been a little bit of a cutter from Broad 453/988.6 and that's the breakthrough! It's Anderson again. A full ball outside off from round the wicket, brings Siriwardana onto the front foot and thick-edged drive flies to gully. Smart bowling 314/6117.1 another for Anderson, but Herath goes for the review. Pinned lbw playing across a full ball. Is it sliding down leg? Don't think so. Clipping at worst I would think. Well, it's smashing middle and leg flush. 430/7121.5 and another! Anderson takes out the off stump as Eranga tries to, optimistically, work this into the leg side 442/8128.2 short again, another mow, a big top-edge, Broad calls for it at mid-on and takes the catch.
