Jos Buttler's beaming in his own understated way. "I thought if we could bring our intensity we'd be too good," he says. He says they wanted to give themselves a chance of topping this group. Feels he's more confident in his own game, too. "I'm still one of the 11, I've got to do my job."

Aaron Jones says it's a hard game to get to grips with. "I guess you could say [we've run out of steam]. We've not had a good last two games. Something to look forward at for sure when we get back. But we've really enjoyed this tournament. I think our shot selection wasn't the best. We knew he was the dangerman but we still gave him some wickets."

Jones talks about his hopes for cricket in America. "This is our first World Cup. I don't think people would have thought we'd be playing here against the big boys. Hopefully this will open the eyes of the American public. We've got a lot of calls and messages of support during this World Cup."

So England have done the bare minimum they needed to do - and no more. They've been very efficient with the timing and size of their victories, and it's resulted in them becoming the first semi-finalists of this tournament.

He has nice words about Chris Jordan. "CJ's a matchwinner. He's been doing it for a number of years, especially at the back end. Jos is a world-class player and has been formany a year, and hopefully we can carry it on now in the semi-finals."

1pm Job done for England. They were the last team to secure a Super Eight berth after a fraught group stage, but they have booked a place that is still very much up for grabs for several other heavyweights. One of West Indies or South Africa will go out tonight, and Australia might need snookers too, after their cruise through the early rounds. As for USA their gig is up, but that victory over Pakistan will live long in the memory. They can be mighty proud of their efforts in this co-hosted tournament.
