So Sri Lanka will meet Pakistan in the final at Lord's on Sunday. Chris Gayle walks off with no emotion on his face, he played a lone hand and got no support whatsoever from his team-mates. Three batsmen played on in Mathews' first over and West Indies never recovered from that. Gayle scored 63, extras contributed 11 and no one else made more than 7.
How about Sri Lanka's bowling? Mathews 3 for 19 off four overs, Mendis 2 for 9, Murali 3 for 29. They will believe they can defend anything, even 100. And don't forget Dilshan's 96, he is a shoo in for the Man of the Match.
Gayle says Dilshan took the game away. "One man can actually change the game, and we didn't get the runs," he says. "We didn't bowl badly. We didn't get the start, it didn't happen and we have to use it as a learning experience."
"I've run out of superlatives to describe him," Sangakkara says about Dilshan. "Fantastic knock, Angelo Mathews' first over, it's a great team effort. It was a perfect pitch for us.
"You can't ask for more than the first over that Mathews bowled. And once we got through the first six overs, we had Mendis and Murali ..."
Dilshan is the Man of the Match. "Once I got the start, I wanted to keep going until the end," he says. "I'm in good form over the last six months, I want to keep it going. Just one more to go."
So it will be Sri lanka v Pakistan at Lord's on Sunday. What a smashing finale. No matter which way that one goes, it's going to be emotional. Hope you've enjoyed today's coverage. This is George Binoy signing off. Over and out.
