11.10pm: The fire is burning bright in Babylon tonight. West Indies receive their trophy and DJ Bravo is leading the way with a rendition of "Champion". That was an emotional sign-off from Sammy, railing against the boards he feels haven't supported them, the critics who had written them off. They began their campaign with a win over England and they have ended it in the same victorious fashion, chasing their way to glory, six-hitting the life out of the opposition and dancing off with the spoils. England pushed them every step of the way under the Kolkata lights before Carlos Brathwaite wrote his name across the sky. 10.55pm: Anyway, it's time for the presentations... Here's England captain Eoin Morgan: "Congratulations to the West Indies, they were better. Huge highs and lows for us. Never sure going into the final over. We were certainly in the game, put ourselves in a position to win the game. We didn't have enough runs on the board, it was a really good batting surface, maybe 180-90 was par. [Badree] He's a fantastic bowler, he got two early wickets, the rebuilding allowed us to put something on the board and the bowlers got us close. We showed an immense amount of character in the tournament, not quite done enough to win it. I truly believe this is only the start of something special. [Stokes] It's not his fault, we're all in this together, we enjoy our wins - and the pain will be shared tonight."

Marlon Samuels is named Man of the Match for his unbeaten 85, just as he was four years ago in Sri Lanka: "I know about finals, when I come to finals, I turn up for the team. All respect to the England players, we want to move from strength to strength - this is for the Caribbean. If we get a good start, then I can step on it, we lose wickets early so it's different. I didn't say much [to Brathwaite] other than swing and swing hard. This is for Shane Warne." Bit of a parting pop from Marlon... Spicy.

Virat Kohli is named Man of the Tournament, although he's not there to collect the trophy. The crowd will make do with giving Sourav Ganguly another huge cheer.

West Indies captain Darren Sammy: "Firstly I want to thank the almighty. We have a pastor in the team in Andre Fletcher, we keep on praying. Really happy for this win, it's something we'll cherish for a long time. We have a few matchwinners, nobody give us a chance, every game somebody stepped up - good to see Carlos play like that in his debut World Cup. Shows the T20 depth we have in the Caribbean, hopefully we will continue to improve. People were wondering if we would play this tournament, we had issues with the board, Mark Nicholas called us players with no brain. But all of us came together, these 15 men put adversity aside, play this type of cricket in front of such passionate fans. It was tremendous. I want to thank the coaching team, Phil Simmons. We had a new manager in this tournament. Got to give credit to the entire team here. This is for all the fans in the Caribbean... I don't know when I'm going to be playing for West Indies again, I want to thank my team, thank my coaching staff. This is for the CHAMPIONS!"

10.50pm: Jumping Jehoshaphat... Four sixes in a row to win a World T20 final. I think Carlos Brathwaite is going to enjoy himself at the IPL. West Indies have Sinatra-ed their way to the title, the first team to win two World T20s. It's fair to say England performed well above expectations in this tournament, not least in coming that close to defending 155 - but they will be feeling thoroughly gutted at the way things finished. I think Stokes might even be permitted a free swing at his locker.

"Why Eng did not finished the last over that WI would make it 6 out of 6 and break the record...." That would have been cruel and unusual, Rauzatullah.

"So England has now lost 3 world cup finals to West Indies..." You're not wrong, Aditya. You think they'd be used to it by now...

Here's the demolisher, Carlos Brathwaite: "Want to give God thanks, that was an amazing knock from Marlon. He took responsibility and played a fantastic knock. Can't really express how much of a top knock that was. The U-19s did it, the girls did it, and now us."

Curtly Ambrose says they never doubted they would get over the line, even with 19 needed from the final over. And who's going to question Curtly?

maz Raja: "Actual Afghanistan won the t20 WC. Because windiest only beaten in this tournament by Afghanistan." Gotta love Afghanistan fans.

Here's Aditya John Bin: "Other than England, can't think of any other cricket playing nation which is not feeling overjoyed about the 3 world cup victories for the windies... They bring joy to the sport."

10.35pm: OMG. What an incredible finish, that will go down through the ages as one of the great finals. West Indies were pushed all the way and in the end had to do it in the most West Indies way possible. They back themselves, no matter the odds, and Carlos Brathwaite has weaved himself vividly into the tapestry with that knockout innings. The WI players are doing the "Champion" dance in the middle, I think Brathwaite is lying on his back surrounded by his team-mates. That was bonkers. And just as with West Indies' victory in 2012, Marlon Samuels was the rock at the centre of it all.

"What just happened?" Good question, Saurabh.

"Feel sorry for Stokes" Another common sentiment, from Tharun. That, by the way, was the most runs scored to win off a final over in a T20I, beating Hussey's pounding of Ajmal in 2010.
