3.5 length on off stump, Swart tries to lift it over the on side but gets nowhere near the necessary connection and chips a catch to mid-on, Stephen Parry claiming a simple chance. Didn't exactly give that the full kitchen sink, went to just raise it over the infield rather than really whack it but got it all wrong 34/1
11.1 oh dear full toss on leg stump, Myburgh wheels it down the leg side but straight to deep-backward square! What a terrible dismissal. A dreadful delivery that should have gone miles but Myburgh has plucked out the deep fielder to perfection who pockets the catch, bad loss for the Dutch, especially in that fashion 84/2
19.2 full and straight, Barresi looks to hit over the leg side, misses completely and the stumps are scattered. It wasn't the perfect yorker but full and straight at pace is often effective enough and so it proved there. Decent hand from Barresi but couldn't take this innings forward for his side 131/5
16.1 full of length just outside off stump, swung hard over the off side, in comes Jordan and he holds a blinder! So many put down by England but here, running back, Jordan has reached out with one hand and claimed it superbly. Cooper got it off the toe end 110/3
18.6 slower ball, tries to be slapped down the ground but a weak connection and a simple catch to mid-off where Parry takes it on the edge of the circle. Pretty ugly innings from Borren really with that mistimed final stroke summing it up 131/4

4.1 length ball, pulled, missed and it's bowled him! Just clipping the off bail on the way through. Hales struggling in tougher batting conditions, trying to force the pace - the length was not there to pull - and has fallen 19/2
2.6 touch fuller and Lumb drives in the air and picks out cover a similar dismissal to the South Africa game, not picking the gap on the off side. It was timed well but at shoulder height and presented an easy catch 18/1
8.1 full and wide of off stump, Moeen drives at it and slaps it to cover! Another one down and England are in trouble here. A slow offcutter from Borren, Moeen has greedily seen some width to work with, gone for a big drive and got it off the toe of the bat straight to the fielder 32/4
5.5 this is pushed wider of off stump and Morgan drives off a good length and edges to slip! England lose a third here! So disciplined outside off stump so far but Netherlands have probed that line and here got their rewards. The slip was pushed wider to about a third slip and he pouched an easy chance at thigh height! Game on 26/3
9.6 short ball, Buttler swings into the deep, again mistimes the stroke and picks out deep midwicket another big strike for Netherlands. Slower ball out of the back of the hand, Buttler was aiming big to the leg side and simply got it nowhere near the meat of the bat, pretty mindless batting really 42/5
15.1 length ball swung over the leg side, deep midwicket is right back on the rope and takes the catch!! Huge wicket and surely England are dead and buried now! The catch taken inches from the rope, Seelaar holds on solidly and the Netherlands are dancing about, that could well be the game 74/7
11.4 slower ball ends up a full toss, he pulls it out to deep square leg, for some reason they're coming back for second and Bresnan is miles out!! Oh my word what absolute carnage! Bopara was scooting back for the second and would have got home easily but Bresnan was so slow and ended up yards short of his ground 52/6
15.5 full length outside off stump, Jordan swings it down the ground but gets nowhere near enough bat on it, long-off is running in, dives forward and takes the catch! Another piece of top fielding from the Dutch and this game is all but theirs now! Once again, an England batsman is not able to time the ball properly in this innings 76/8
17.2 length ball wide of off stump, Broad aims a swing leg side and nicks it through to the keeper! England's last faint hope walks off. He had to try something, aimed a mighty whack to leg, got there too soon and feathered an edge behind 86/9

17.4 swing over the off side, it loops just over cover and Tredwell survives but oh my word there's a mix up mid-pitch and there's a run out!! And that will finish things off!!! What a calamitous way to end and it sums England's batting performance up, Parry totally stranded in the middle of the wicket 88/10

Match Notes

  • Were England complacent?

Giles and Broad used the word to describe the team's performance in the World T20, but what it really describes is the attitude of their bosses

  • England's final humiliation

There is no cause to analyse England's defeat against the Netherlands, no need to search for explanations. It was beyond all that. All that is needed is a simple recognition that it was unacceptable

  • Giles unsure of effect on job prospects

Ashley Giles said he didn't know whether England's humiliation at the hands of Netherlands would have a negative impact on his prospects of becoming head coach across all three formats

  • England reach their Netherland

There had been some encouraging signs in the their first three World T20 matches that things were on the up after a hideous winter but England positives were taken away from them by a hot blast of Dutch courage

  • Bukhari's late bounty

ESPNcricinfo presents the plays of the day on a another famous occasion for Netherlands as they thrash England
