Another high-scoring game in Basseterre. Both teams rescued themselves from troublesome situations, but only one of them could win. Warriors put up 210 from 22 for 3, as the 34-run win keeps them unbeaten. They are second on the points table, with a net run rate far clear of the next best. That was it from us from this game though, as the CPL action continues later today. Until then, goodnight and goodbye!
Imran Tahir on the win: "I like to play with pride, and like to set standards. I am also pleased to see how I ran and took the catches! We have our two or three overseas guys at the top. We are very confident of any situation we get into... Keemo played really well; he hit the ball clean. We were lucky we got wickets in the powerplay. That put us up front, but if I have to be honest, I must improve going into the next game. Motie bowled very well; he was unlucky. I have to accept as a captain that it's a small ground. Bowlers are going to for runs; it's about how you come back. Captaincy is a challenge. I have been given this opportunity, and I am grateful. We are not looking that far (at the trophy), but that's our target."
Brandon King speaks first: "We played the combination of the extra spinner thinking there was something there. We didn't bowl as consistently as we would have liked. They didn't start very well either... so we knew we could potentially catch up [too] in the end. [Wasim and Allen's batting] is a big positive. They batted very smartly. They picked their bowlers, and did very well. Alex Hales is ready to go from this point; he came in just yesterday."
Sampath has a nice stat for us: the 300-plus runs scored by those batting at No. 5 and lower in this game is the highest for any T20 match. The next best of 262 had come back in 2012.
Romario Shepherd is the Player of the Match for his all-round show: "My hard work - I have been working very hard. Keemo played a fantastic innings; that was great. Fitness is a very key part of my game, since I have to bat and bowl. It's about having that fire inside you, and for it to burn for longer. It's about keeping your foot on the gas." 1.35pm Tallawahs were 36 for 5 after seven overs. Wasim and Allen fought back to add 97 off 59 balls, but the irreparable damage had already been done by then. Rarely do you see a day when so many outstanding catches are taken by different fielders of the same team, and today was that day for Warriors. But much before that athleticism from their fielders, Warriors' batters had done their job. Hetmyer hit 60, Paul cracked 57, and Shepherd played a handy cameo in the end. Hang around for the presentation.
