5:12pm That will be all from us for this game. But don't go anywhere, there is a MASSIVE clash coming up in Group A, featuring India and Sri Lanka. Srinidhi and Sudarshanan will be bringing all the action from Dubai and that should be your go-to place for the next four hours or so. From Raghav and myself, this is goodbye!
Laura Wolvaardt, South Africa captain: (On the performance) Can't ask for much more. Excellent all-round (display). (On NRR being a factor) We did speak about it coming into this game. Tough to decide what to do at the toss. We felt the best chance to win the game was to put a lot of runs on the board and restrict them. After the powerplay, we were looking at 160-170. (On the flexibility in their batting order) He (the batting coach) has sleepless nights in his room thinking about the batter order (smiles). We wanted to be ruthless and show what we are about and kill it off the way we did. Every day has been different. You can come in with all the plans in the world but every game has been different. Nice to have so many bowling options and all-round options. (On the match against Bangladesh) Massive game for us, we need a win. This will give us a lot of confidence and hopefully we can hit the ground running for that game.
Kathryn Bryce, Scotland captain: There were a few chances we put down that proved costly, which meant we were chasing 160 rather than 140. When you are not usually under that sort of pressure, it is difficult (to execute). Something we will have to learn and get better at. (On playing against SA and sharing knowledge) It is great just to share the knowledge and share the field with them. You learn from them but when you come up against them, you also know it is going to be tough. (On bowling Carter) Little bit of a gut feel. She has been bowling brilliantly throughout the summer. On a pitch like this, she got some extra bounce (with her height). (On the match against England) It is always going to be tough. Back to Sharjah, so slightly different conditions. Learn as much as possible and try to put it into practice.
Marizanne Kapp, Player of the Match: (On her knock) I was a little bit nervous at the start. Knew the wicket was going to be slow. Played a lot slower than our first game. Luckily, it came off. The heat has been really tough, I am not going to lie. Luckily, the two day games are not out of the way. Have been working on a few options against spin and it came off (today). (On her preparation) More of a confidence thing to start off. Focusing more on the basics and backing my strengths. I still would have liked if we had pushed to that 180-190 mark after our powerplay. Good learnings, we move on and we now face Bangladesh (in our last game).
4:55pm A landslide win and that will help South Africa's NRR too. At the half-way stage, it seemed they had plenty on the board and once Tryon dismissed Kathryn and Sarah Bryce inside the powerplay, that notion gained further weight. Mlaba then spun a web around the batters, finishing as SA's most successful bowler, with de Klerk, Dercksen, Khaka and Luus also among the wickets.
Another batting outing to forget for Scotland. They were outclassed by South Africa had no answers to the questions the 2023 finalists posed. Only two of their batters got into double-digits, with extras being the third-highest contributor. And that, unfortunately, sums it up for Scotland.
