That's it from us today. Hope you all enjoyed our coverage. I am Srinidhi Ramanujam, signing off on behalf of Ashish Pant, Ranjith P and Chetan Kumar. Take care and good night!
Nigar Sultana: "Losing so many wickets in the powerplay is so difficult, me and Shorna were trying to build a partnership. They used the powerplay very well. T20 is all about intensity. For the next few games I would like to see how my team rectifies mistakes. Nahida bowled well, crowd also liked it. It's a good thing that we could take on to the next game."
Vishmi Gunaratne is the POTM: I am enjoying this year. This one makes more special because my family is here. I would like to thank my parents, sister. Enjoyed batting with my captain. Pitch is good for batting and easy to chase down the score. I had to work on my reverse sweep. Moving forward, I want to get this right."
Chamari Athapaththu: "As a captain, I am proud of my girls, in last couple of months we played good cricket. We played positive cricket, I hope we continue this performance. We worked hard on fielding and a couple of areas, thanks to fielding coach. I hope they continue in the next game as well. I want to thank the crowd."
9.59pm: Sri Lanka open their campaign with a commanding seven-wicket win . They were excellent with the ball, strangling Bangladesh to 17 for 4 but let them get away to 111 for 8. Nigar and Shorna contributed with the bat but it wasn't enough. What is more refreshing to see is how the likes of Gunaratne and Samarawickrama batted after Athapaththu's departure. 2024 is Gunaratne's year and she continued her purple patch to top-score for the hosts today with 51. Sri Lanka's strike rotation and fielding were impressive as well. This also means Bangladesh are yet to notch up a win in T20Ia in 2024. Not a good news if you are a Bangladeshi fan, especially when they are hosting a T20 World Cup in a few months.
