Gujarat beat Punjab by six wickets in the final in Indore to win the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Punjab elected to bat, but were in all sorts of trouble as they were reduced to 20 for 4, through the bowling of Mehul Patel, Jasprit Bumrah and Rohit Dahiya. Chandan Madan and Amitoze Singh put up a 44-run partnership for the fifth wicket to help steady the innings.
Once Madan was dismissed, Gurinder Singh and Amitoze put up a further 49 runs, to leave Punjab at 113 for 6. Amitoze top-scored with 49, as Punjab stuttered to 122 for 8. Bumrah was the pick of the bowlers with 3 for 14, and was ably supported by Mehul's 2 for 26.
Gujarat started badly, as they lost their wicketkeeper captain Parthiv Patel with the score on 2. Asad Pathan and Niraj Patel put up a 50-run partnership, before they were both dismissed with the score on 52. Manprit Juneja and Abdulahad Malik put up a further 64 runs, as Gujarat kept abreast with the required run-rate. Ultimately Malik and Akshar Patel sealed the victory in the 18th over, and with six wickets in hand.
