New Zealand Women 202 for 9 (Satterthwaite 72, Bates 43, Harris 3-32, Jonassen 3-32) beat Australia Women 193 (Mooney 53, Perry 51, Tahuhu 3-34, Bermingham 3-38) by nine runs
Scorecard

Amy Satterthwaite stroked 72 off 88 balls and also pitched in with a wicket to send Australia Women 1-0 up against New Zealand Women with a tight win at at Mount Maunganui. Satterthwaite held the innings together with her 11th ODI half-century, guiding New Zealand to 202. The bowlers then combined well to seal a nine-run victory.

New Zealand, however, were dented early after being inserted; seamer Holly Ferling striking in the fourth over to have Rachael Priest caught behind for 4. Suzie Bates and Satterthwaite then added 72 for the second wicket to help the hosts gain some impetus. Bates, though, was run-out for 43 in the 17th over and Sara McGlashan was soon removed for 16. Her dismissal trigged a collapse as New Zealand lost six wickets for 64 runs. Debutant Thamsyn Newton and Lea Tahuhu, though, made handy lower-order contributions to push New Zealand past 200.

Tahuhu would proceed to inflict damage with the ball, returning figures of 3 for 34. Legspinner Erin Bermingham also took three wickets of her own to derail Australia. The visitors were reasonably well placed at 145 for 4, but crashed to 193 all out with two balls to spare. Australia, though, had a bright start with openers Nicole Bolton and debutant wicketkeeper-batsman Beth Mooney adding 69 together. Mooney went on to score a fifty, as did No.4 Ellyse Perry, but the rest of the batsmen folded; the last eight wickets falling for 89 runs.

The win meant that New Zealand moved to 16 points on the Women's Championship table, pulling level with West Indies. Australia, however, lead the table with 20 points.
