That's it after a remarkable day in Lahore. See you guys soon, thanks for joining us!

"Congraulations to the team," beams Shaheen. "Thanks to the crowd. I wanted to go out and play for a few overs, which is why I went out to bat early. Sometimes you lose early wickets, but as a team you need to support each other. Which Sikandar Raza and Rashid Khan proved very well. We were aiming to bowl length and not to do too much different."

Sikandar Raza is the Player of the Match, of course. He's also won a whole host of other awards. (Non-alcoholic) drinks had better be on him. "I didn't think batting slowly and posting 110 was going to win us the game," he says. "I wanted to give our bowlers something to bowl to. And when we put up 148 I knew we'd done a good job." Praises Rashid, too.

"I think we run well, we understand each other well. Because we're both pretty innovative with our shotmaking as well we know we're going to find enough boundaries. I think there was variable bounce, and there was a lot of natural variation. Credit to the bowlers to restrict Quetta on that track. Incredible effort."

Lots of you have made the entirely reasonable point that it might be time to move on from Sarfaraz. Looking at him, it almost feels like it'd be a relief for him, too. He looks particularly burdened at the moment.

"We bowled well in the first ten, and then letting them score 150 was pretty poor," a disappointed Sarfaraz says. "The bowling was poor at that stage, and then after the Powerplay, we stalled between overs 5-10. We scored only 10 runs in those five overs and allowed them back into it."

Fiaz Laghari: "I have made a habit of guessing Man of the Match correctly and today my guess is Sikandar Raza :) let's see if I'm correct again " I keep telling everyone water is wet and keep being proved right. Not sure why people don't appreciate my wisdom either

END OF OVER:
20 | 7 Runs | QG: 131/7 (18 runs required, RR: 6.55)

  • Umaid Asif11 (6b)
  • Sarfaraz Ahmed27 (28b)
  • Zaman Khan3-0-29-0
  • Haris Rauf4-0-22-3

It's a demoralising defeat that heavily implicates a stagnating structure that's arguably past its sell-by date.

But tonight, it's all about Lahore, whose bowling at the deathw as simply in a league Sarfaraz and the lower order couldn't match.

Zaman Khan to Umaid Asif, no run, we'll have a review for a run-out. It isn't, but it doesn't matter. What a magnificent win this is for Lahore Qalandars, one that surely dooms the Gladiators to a fourth successive season outside the playoffs.

Zaman Khan to Umaid Asif, SIX, rinsed down the ground. It was in the slot, and Umaid got a proper hold of it. It flies over long-on

Zaman Khan to Umaid Asif, no run, swing and a miss, and a huge cheer erupts as the asking rate rises above 36

1
Zaman Khan to Sarfaraz Ahmed, 1 run, hoicked into the onside. Sarfaraz bizarrely just shuffles along rather than rimmomh for a single properly. It is the amble of a defeated captain. He nearly gets himself run-out with some sharp work at the non-striker's end

Zaman Khan to Sarfaraz Ahmed, no run, that might be the best yorker of the innings. Sneaks underneath Sarfaraz's bat and only just misses off stump. It's struck him on the boot though, and would likely have been lbw had they reviewed

Haris Rauf to Umaid Asif, FOUR, slower ball from Rauf that he manages to squeeze behind square on the onside for a boundary. They need six more of those to send us to a Super Over. Spoiler alert: it won't happen

Haris Rauf to Mohammad Nawaz, OUT, puts Nawaz out of his misery. Classic case of "You miss I hit" as Nawaz tried to clump that over midwicket. Rocks his middle stump back, and Nawaz has been dismissed

Shaheen Shah Afridi to Mohammad Nawaz, 1 run, magnificent bowling. Unplayable yorker that Nawaz can do very little about. Squeezes it out for a run. Lahore on the verge of sealing this now
17.5
1
Shaheen Shah Afridi to Sarfaraz Ahmed, 1 run, low full toss into the inside half off the bat, and just a single to long-on
17.4
2
Shaheen Shah Afridi to Sarfaraz Ahmed, 2 runs, biffed towards deep midwicket, where it's fielded well by Shafique. This was in the slot to travel over the ropes, but Sarfaraz can't quite find the power and timing yet
17.3
2
Shaheen Shah Afridi to Sarfaraz Ahmed, 2 runs, cloths this up into the air, but Lahore don't have a midwicket stationed, so it plugs safely. It almost won't matter if Quetta don't start to pick up boundaries

Shaheen Shah Afridi to Sarfaraz Ahmed, no run, cramps him for room. Sarfaraz chops it back onto his pads

Sarfaraz-Nawaz the last realistic hopes for Quetta

Haris Rauf to Smith, OUT, straight up in the air for Billings to complete a simple catch. Lahore erupts! Freed his arms and tried to clatted that over the bowler's head only to get a top edge. Billings had to make up some ground behind him but he made it look so easy.
