Peshawar Zalmi will be left scratching their heads, wondering how they messed up a straightforward chase. They were going swimmingly about their business after that terrific stand between Saim Ayub and Babar Azam. They did the bulk of the scoring, but it looks like they left too much for a middle-order that couldn't settle in and adjust to the conditions quick enough. The last 10 overs belonged to Quetta Gladiators and that needless runout of Saim Ayub allowed Quetta to sneak back into the game. Abrar Ahmad got some timely wickets in the middle phase and then Mohammad Amir rose to the occasion with some tight overs that made the equation tough for Peshawar.

Earlier, Saud Shakeel assimilated to the opening role like a duck to water and scored a stylish 74 alongside Jason Roy, who was severe on the bowlers right from the word go. The platform was set, but Quetta Gladiators squandered the opportunity to post an even more imposing total as Peshawar Zalmi managed to pull things back in the last five. The spin did okay, but there was no specialist spinner in the attack and this Peshawar attack seemed to be lacking in this department. Aamer Jamal was wayward and bowled all over the place, which is quite a surprise after such a phenomenal performance in Australia in the Test series last year. His struggles in white-ball cricket continue, but it's still early days in the tournament, so bowlers might get into the groove as the tournament wears on.

The second game of the doubleheader today between Karachi Kings and Multan Sultans will be starting in about an hour. We hope you enjoyed our coverage of this game. For now, it's goodbye from me, Rvel Zahid

Mohammad Wasim to Aamer Jamal, 1 run, Drilled down the ground towards long-off and can only pick up a run, was another stunning yorker and Wasim steps up to the plate when his team needed the most, Amir made his job easier by bowling a superb penultimate over.

Bilal Anwar: "Can't digest how the remaining batters spoil the party once Babar departs, whether it's international or league cricket."

Humayun: "This was an "oopsie" kinda innings from Zalmi after the opening stand"

Mohammad Wasim to Aamer Jamal, no run, he's hitting the blockhole for fun now! So accurate with his yorker stuff, this one dipped in from just outside off and beat his cut, excellent seam position
