Mashonaland Eagles 145 for 6 (Raza 50, Chakabva 34) beat Mountaineers 144 for 8 (Masakadza 72, Manatsa 3-14) by four wickets
Scorecard
Mashonaland Eagles overcame Hamilton Masakadza's onslaught to beat the Mountaineers by four wickets in the Zimbabwe Twenty20 Competition in Mutare. Masakadza's 72, however, only took Mountaineers to 144 for 8 in 20 overs, a total overtaken by the Eagles with five balls to spare.
Pace bowler Tatenda Manatsa picked up three wickets while leg-spinner Tinotenda Mutombodzi and Kyle Jarvis took two each, the latter making a big contribution by picking up Masakadza's wicket after he had smacked six sixes and three fours in his 45-ball knock.
Sikandar Raza kept the Eagles innings afloat after three wickets had fallen in 7.5 overs. He added 53 runs for the fifth wicket with Regis Chakabva, paving the way for victory. Raza struck three sixes and two fours in his 41-ball 50, but his dismissal in the 18th over wasn't too alarming as Eagles held their nerve. Nathan Waller finished the game with a six off Shingi Masakadza in the final over of the innings.
The win took the Eagles to the top of the table with four wins out of four, trumping the Mountaineers who suffered their first loss after three wins.
