Prolific seamer Michael Hogan took four wickets as Glamorgan beat Derbyshire by 106 runs inside three days at Cardiff.

It was Glamorgan's first County Championship victory over Derbyshire in Cardiff for 22 years going back to 1992. And on top of that Derbyshire had won the previous five four-day meetings against the Welsh county.

After Glamorgan had been bowled out for 181 it left Derbyshire requiring 261 to win in 176 overs but they were bowled out for 154 in 52.1 overs. Glamorgan took 21 points to Derbyshire's four.

Despite being in a strong position at the start of play at 145 for 5, a lead of 224 runs, Glamorgan lost their last five wickets for 36 in 13.5 overs to be dismissed for 181.

Mark Footitt struck with the fifth delivery of the morning, trapping David Lloyd lbw, and nightwatchman Dean Cosker went the same way five overs later.

Glamorgan slumped to 172 for 8 as skipper Mark Wallace drove Footitt to Ben Slater at short extra cover. Four runs later Kieran Bull edged Footitt to second slip before Michael Hogan miscued another drive off Tony Palladino to substitute fielder Chesney Hughes.

Derbyshire's openers had 40 minutes to survive before lunch but they lost Ben Slater, who was bowled by Graham Wagg shouldering arms at the start of the fifth over of the innings.

After lunch Hogan trapped Godleman leg before and Cheteshwar Pujara lasted only six balls as before chipping straight back to the same bowler. Wes Durston offered some resistance but the introduction of Lloyd's seamers at the River End brought an end to the fourth-wicket stand as Wayne Madsen went lbw.

From 64 for 4 Derbyshire's slump continued when Alex Hughes was caught down the leg side by Wallace off Lloyd to make the score 68 for 5. Despite Durston's resilience the wickets continued to fall the other end as Allenby trapped Gareth Cross in front - the 15th lbw decision of the match.

Durston completed his half-century from 69 balls before Allenby bowled Wayne White. The key wicket of Durston was claimed by Hogan, who had the allrounder caught behind for 72 from 91 balls, leaving Derbyshire 122 for 8 shortly before tea.

Victory came after tea when David Wainwright was caught behind off Hogan and Footitt miscued a drive at Wagg and was caught at mid-off.
