Austin's ten-for routs Leeward in two days

Ryan Austin claimed a ten-wicket match haul West Indies Cricket

Leeward Islands collapsed in both their innings to crash to defeat by an innings and 15 runs against Combined Colleges and Campuses (CCC) at the Three Ws Oval in Bridgetown. The match did not last two whole days, thanks to offspinner Ryan Austin, who took his second ten-wicket haul in first-class cricket

In their first innings, Leeward Islands were dismissed for 39 in 22.2 overs. The CCC fast bowlers got rid of the top order, and Austin accounted for the middle and lower-order batsmen, finishing with 5 for 19. Gavin Williams and Tonito Willet were the only batsmen to make double-figure scores. The last-wicket stand of 13 was the best of the Leeward innings.

CCC did not bat well either but, under the circumstances, their first-innings total of 167 earned them a sizeable lead. They had seven wickets in hand when they went past Leedward's total but legspinner Anthony Martin ensured the middle-order batsmen did not stay long. Martin finished with 4 for 32, while Nkrumah Bonner and Jason Holder made 43 and 42 for CCC.

Leeward needed 128 in their second innings to avoid an innings defeat. They did not make it. From 42 for 1 they collapsed to 66 for 7 and were eventually dismissed for 113. Austin was the best bowler once again, taking 5 for 52 to finish with match figures of 10 for 71.
