Mayank Agarwal, playing for Karnataka, hit an unbeaten 304 today, in his side's Ranji Trophy game against Maharashtra in Pune. It might have been the first triple of Agarwal's career, but it was definitely not a rare feat in the Indian first-class circuit. This was the 50th first-class triple hundred scored on Indian soil, more than half of which have come in the past decade. In fact, just four rounds into Ranji Trophy 2017-18, it was already the season's third 300-plus score; Himachal Pradesh's Prashant Chopra had kicked things off with 338 in his side's opening game against Punjab in Dharamsala, after which Hanuma Vihari smashed an unbeaten 302 against Odisha in Vizianagaram two weeks ago.
