Shane Watson - 70 from 34 balls
Shane Watson clobbered 70 from 34 balls to help Rajasthan register their eighth-straight win in Jaipur by crushing Chennai by five wickets on Sunday.
Chasing just 142, Rajasthan were off to a poor start, losing the wickets of Ajinkya Rahane, James Faulkner and Sanju Samson in the first five overs. Rahul Dravid and Shane Watson strung together a 26-run stand, for the fourth wicket, before Dravid fell on 22.
With 93 required off the last ten overs, victory - for Rajasthan - seemed difficult. But Binny and Watson counter-attacked. The former smashed the third ball of the 11th over by R Ashwin for six over mid-wicket. Watson joined in two-balls later and deposited Ashwin for two-straight sixes.
Chennai's captain MS Dhoni turned to his seamers to break the stand but it didn't work as Binny cut and flicked Morris for a couple of boundaries, in the 12th over, and then Watson struck three sixes in the next two overs from Jason Holder and Dwayne Bravo.
There was no stopping Watson as he made the most of some wayward Chennai bowling. The right-hander continued the onslaught and hit Morris for four-straight boundaries in the 15th over. He fell in the 17th over but the damage had already been done. Binny hit a six in the 18th over to hand his side the win.
"We had a little slow start when I got out there so I knew I had to take risks and it came off for me. Even mishits were falling in the gaps," Watson said. "We knew 140 was going to be a decent chase. I knew we had to get one big partnership and Stuart Binny helped me out, in that Ashwin over, to get it started from there. It seemed like spin was easier to play than faster bowling."
Dravid lauded Watson and Binny for getting the team home. "It was a wicket where we knew we had to [wait for the] back-end [of] our batting. We didn't play the first ten overs well. I would have liked a few more runs. But we were lucky to have Watson and Binny in the end."
Jaydev Unadkat - five for 25
Bangalore's left-arm fast bowler Jaydev Unadkat's five wickets helped his side beat Delhi by four runs in a closely-contested match on Friday.
Bangalore lost talisman Chris Gayle in the second over, and his partner Cheteshwar Pujara followed three overs later. But captain Virat Kohli and Moises Henriques combined well and bailed their side out of trouble with a 57-run stand. Henriques, however, fell in the 14th over for 26.
His departure brought AB de Villiers to the crease. Kohli and de Villiers began their quest to post a challenging total by regularly rotating the strike when the boundaries were hard to come by. After 15 overs of the innings Bangalore were 99 for three, and Kohli was on 47 off 43.
The floodgates opened in the last four overs as Kohli and de Villiers hit six-sixes and seven fours to loot 77 runs to help their side post a formidable 183 in their innings.
Delhi's openers, Virender Sehwag and Mahela Jayawardene, showed some promise early on, with some attacking cricket, but Unadkat struck and dismissed them in his first two overs.
Unmukt Chand and Ben Rohrer kept Delhi in the hunt, but Unadkat once again split the game open when brought back in the 17th over. He dismissed Chand and then Kedav Jadhav in the same over.
Vinay Kumar and Ravi Rajpaul were expensive in the 18th and 19th over and Unadkat had 18 to defend in the 20th. He conceded ten from the first four balls and then dismissed Morne Morkel with the fifth. Unadkat's stellar show handed Bangalore their eighth win of the season.
"That was an important game as far as the points table was concerned. We had to win this one to boost the confidence of the team and I'm really happy to have contributed," Unadkat said. "I was just trying to stick to our plan and be very clear in my mind what the next ball should be and not worry about the outcome."
