Sri Lankans start with wins, Dimona A convincing

Both Sri Lanka Jerusalem and Sri Lanka Tel Aviv, expected to challenge for the league title, began their season's with wins over the weekend, defeating Lod Rangers and Neve Yonatan respectively. Dimona A made in two wins from two, comfortably defeating Kiryat Gat in Dimona on Saturday.

Chasing a small target of 106 after Samanta (four for 14) and Rajanta (three for 17) had helped bundle out Rangers cheaply in Lod on Saturday, Sri Lanka Jerusalem were far from convincing, but got the job done, losing seven wickets along the way to victory. Danushka (47) top scored for the visitors, whilst Naveen Shetty, who ironically bowls with an action similar to Sri Lankan international Lasith Malinga, gave the Lankans a scare taking five for 28.

One week after their thrilling win over Young Ashdod, Neve Yonatan were involved in another tight game in Ashdod on Saturday, although this time finished up in second place. Menaka starred for Sri Lanka Tel Aviv, scoring 40 in their innings of 145, and then taking three for 24 as the home side were all out for 135, falling 10 runs short.

Nir Dokarkar led the way for Dimona A, taking three for 11 as Kiryat Gat were dismissed for just 97, and then top scoring with 43 as the hosts needed just 10 overs to reach their target.
