Stuart Broad is set to play in the opening ODI against Bangladesh at Trent Bridge despite the death of his stepmother, Miche, following her battle with motor neurone disease.
Stuart's father Chris, the ICC match referee, announced the news on Wednesday and said that the family would be continuing with their normal duties. Gemma Broad, Stuart's sister, also works with the England team as an analyst.
"It is with great sadness that I announce the death of my wife, Miche," Chris Broad said in a statement. "She has been battling bravely with motor neurone disease for some time now and she unfortunately passed away this morning.
"It was Miche's wish that, on her passing, Gemma, Stuart and I should continue to fulfil our commitments and, in her honour, we will endeavour to do so."
