The fall of Sir Garry

England v West Indies, first Test, The Oval, 1973
Dennis Amiss: This was the only time I ever ran out Garry Sobers. He had just come in to bat and tried taking a quick single off Tony Greig after pushing it to mid-on, where I was standing. The ball went to my left and he must have thought I was right-handed, and so went for the run. I picked it up in a clean swoop and from the side angle I could see two stumps, and fortunately for us I hit them. As he walked off I was so sorry that I had got the great man out, but obviously very pleased for our team.
