Tanmay Srivastava led an authoritative India today, his undefeated 147 lifting them to 342 for 6. Srivastava, who has been tipped for greater things, ran the rule over England's bowlers in his stylish knock which has so far included 15 fours and one six.
Harshad Khadiwale joined him in a dominant stand of 121 to shift the momentum firmly India's way after they lost two early wickets. Andrew Miller struck early to remove Parvez Aziz without scoring and Sumit Sharma fell soon afterwards, to Miller's strike partner Steven Finn but from then on in things turned in India's favour (12 for 2).
Khadiwale made 71 from 133 balls, including 11 fours. Karan Singh chipped in with a useful 46 until he became Finn's third victim; the bowler also grabbing the dangerous Virat Kohli for 16. Mark Nelson was the other bowler to strike, he dismissed the wicketkeeper-batsman Omkar Gurav for 31.
But the stand-out innings came from India's captain, Srivastava, who bossed the innings from the off. India will return tomorrow confident of further boosting their score to make a thoroughly convincing platform.
