Langeveldt fined 75% of his match fee

Charl Langeveldt, the South African fast bowler, Mickey Arthur, the team coach, and Scott Styris, the New Zealand batsman, have been pulled up by the match referee for breaching the ICC's Code of Conduct during the fifth one-day international between the two sides at Centurion.

Langeveldt was fined 75% of his match fee for celebrating the caught-behind dismissal of Hamish Marshall without first checking to see if the umpire had given him out. It was Langeveldt's second Level 1 offence in the 12-month period, leading to the severe fine.

Arthur was docked 25% of the match fee for confronting an umpire as he was coming off the field. Commenting on the decision, Chris Broad, the match referee, said: "It was out of character, his first offence, but swearing at an umpire should not be tolerated."

Styris's offence was swearing at an umpire's decision, for which he had 25% of his match fee deducted as well. However, Kyle Mills escaped, when Broad ruled that he wasn't guilty of showing dissent at the umpire's decision. "On the evidence presented the actions of the player did not breach the Code of Conduct," Braod explained. "While the incident did not look good on television I am satisfied with the explanation provided by the player and his manager."

South Africa won the match by five wickets to seal the series 4-0.
