Greg Chappell was happy that his side could pick themselves up after being defeated in the opening game to post a convincing win today. He spoke to the media after the game
On plans for the season and how they are progressing
We're certainly moving in the right direction. I think the other positive thing from the two games so far is that there have been good performances from guys outside of the national side, all young cricketers who are looking to go somewhere. I think the two days have been positive, this is an excellent tournament. The timing was perfect particularly because it is leading into the series coming up.
On experiments during these games like opening with Irfan Pathan yesterday
It was an opportunity that presented itself and Irfan was keen to take that opportunity. He has the potential to be a genuine allrounder at the international level, so to take an opportunity to give him another challenge and stretch him a little bit is good for his development both as a player and personally.
On Tendulkar's comeback
He's coming back from a long lay-off. He's back in the picture and enjoying playing cricket again. He's a big match player and I'm sure he'll be fine.
On Kaif's captaincy
I think he's led well on both days. It's pretty tough when you're out there in a 50 over game, things are happening very quickly. I spoke to him this afternoon and he felt more relaxed about being out there today, having had the experience yesterday. It's a great opportunity to develop as a person and as a cricketer.
On Yuvraj's batting
He's been working very hard. I think he's gone to another level as a batsman and as a cricketer and it's important that he keeps that progress going. Opportunities like today, when the team was in a bit of trouble, was just what the doctor ordered as far as getting more experience and getting more success at this level.
On the fielding
I've been happy with it and I can see considerable improvement over the last few months. Fumbles happen but as long as the effort and endeavor is there, I am fine with it.
