Sunday, July 23 saw the Nomad CC chalked up a memorable win against the HMAS Sydney.
With a full compliment on both sides & on a typical hot & humid Manila day, Nomads were asked to have the first dig.
Tight Navy bowling & a slow outfield restricted the Nomads total to a very modest 76 all out off 29 overs. Shining with the bat for the home team was new boy Jeremy Smith with a top score of 20.
Unfazed by the defensive effort required, Nomads took to the field but were immediately on the back foot after ferocious Navy batting smashed 20 runs off the first over. It certainly looked like an early afternoon for the boys but those spectators who left the ground early missed a truly remarkable turn of events.
Nomads grabbed the first navy victim early in the second over & followed with another three in the third. Navy never recovered under the relentless Nomad attack & suffered a severe case of 'land lubber's legs' to be scuttled for 42 in the 11th over.
Nomads' man of the match was Raju with 4-22 from three overs.
Nomads CC will tour Jakarta from November Nov 30 to Dec 03.
