1913 - The last time England won three Tests in a series against South Africa in South Africa. This is also the first instance of three consecutive home losses for South Africa since Australia whitewashed them back in 2005-2006.

Hoggard's 12 for 205 in Johannesburg in 2005 was the last instance of a seamer taking more wickets than Wood did in a Test in South Africa.
284 - South Africa's highest score in the series - This is only the second instance in which South Africa have failed to score in excess of 300 in series comprising of four matches or more. Previously, they failed to do so in India in 2015-16.
