Barbados Tridents v Jamaica Tallawahs, CPL 2020, Fantasy Pick, team predictions

Barbados Tridents v Jamaica Tallawahs, Port of Spain

Our XI: Johnson Charles, Glenn Philips, Asif Ali, Jason Holder, Andre Russell, Kyle Mayers, Ashley Nurse, Rashid Khan, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Sandeep Lamichhane, Mitchell Santner

NOTE: We might not always be able to tip you off about late injury (or other relevant) updates, and do wait till the toss before finalising your XIs.

Captain: Andre Russell
Russell showed glimpses of good form in the game against Guyana Amazon Warriors, hitting 52 runs from 37 balls. He is a natural allrounder and there is always talk of Russell batting higher up. If he does then chances are he will score more and earn more points.

Vice-captain: Rashid Khan
The Jamaican batting line-up is full of six hitters, but they have scored at less than a run-a-ball (5.66) against spinners in the competition so far. Enter Khan. Either the batsmen look to play him out and he gets economy points, or he picks up wickets. Khan has to be in the XI, and as vice-captain.

Hot picks

Mujeeb Ur Rahman: Mujeeb has been among the wickets this season, nine wickets from four games at an incredible average of 7.44 and economy of 4.18. He has been Jamaica's best bowler and is naturally a top pick.

Jason Holder: Against an opposition that boasts two quality mystery spinners, Holder is the perfect counterplan. He is the best player of spin in the Barbados line-up, and is batting up the order too, having scored 101 runs in four games with a strike rate of 180.35. His bowling form has been below-par, though.

Value picks

Kyle Mayers: Mayers bats up the order and bowls regularly, and though he is yet to really deliver - he did get two wickets and scored 22 against St Kitts & Nevis Patriots - he has a lot of chances to get points.

Glenn Philips: Opener Philips has 128 runs from 96 balls, striking at 133.33. His performance is crucial to the Jamaica's success, his starts vital for the middle-order to strike big and get them across the line.

Points to note

  • There are plenty of six-hitters in this match. Back them.

  • And a fair few mystery spinners too. Balance your team with spinners and six hitters. One or the other will do well.
