Melbourne Renegades vs Perth Scorchers, BBL 2020-21, Fantasy Pick, team predictions

Dec 12: Melbourne Renegades vs Perth Scorchers, Hobart

Pro Tip: Scorchers have won ten of their 12 games against Renegades. Also, in Hobart, teams batting first have won all of the last five games. So pitch an extra player from Scorchers especially if they are batting first.

Our XI: Rilee Rossouw, Benny Howell, Aaron Finch, Shaun Marsh, Kane Richardson, Mitchell Marsh, Ashton Turner, Colin Munro, Jhye Richardson, Andrew Tye, Josh Inglis

Substitutes: Jason Behrendorff, Fawad Ahmed, Sam Harper, Beau Webster

Player availability: Mohammad Nabi, Noor Ahmad, Imran Tahir, Imad Wasim, Cameron Boyce, James Pattinson, Will Sutherland and Marcus Harris will miss out for Renegades. Cameron Green, Ashton Agar, Liam Livingstone and Jason Roy will miss out for Scorchers. We might not always be able to tip you off about late injury (or other relevant) updates, so please finalise your team after the toss

Captain: Aaron Finch

Finch is Australia's top-ranked T20I batsman, and had a terrific BBL 09 too, scoring 363 runs in nine games at an average of 45.38 and a strike rate of 139.08. He scored a 68-ball 109 against Sixers last time too.

Vice-captain: Shaun Marsh

Marsh's eight-year association with Scorchers ended last season. The move worked wonders for Marsh, as he was the top scorer for Renegades, scoring 449 runs in 12 games at an average of 37.41, including a 38-ball 55 in the first game he played against Scorchers.

Hot Picks

Colin Munro: The opener has been in sensational T20 form of late. Among the players in action in BBL 10, only Marcus Stoinis and Alex Hales have scored more runs than Munro in 2020. He has 787 runs in 27 games at an average of 32.79 and a strike rate of 139.29. He can be a very good vice-captain pick too.

Andrew Tye: Tye looked rejuvenated in the recent T20I series against India, where he clocked 140-plus kph consistently. He has 72 wickets in 52 BBL games. His bowling average of 19.80 is the best among the top ten bowlers of the league.

Kane Richardson: Richardson is the third-highest wicket-taker in the BBL with 83 wickets in 67 games at an average of 23.14. He picked up a couple of four-wicket hauls in BBL 09 too, including one against Scorchers.

Differential Picks

Josh Inglis: Inglis had a breakthrough BBL 09, scoring 405 runs with four half-centuries, and his strike rate of 153.99 was the best among the top ten run-getters. He was especially brilliant against spin in BBL 09, striking at 170.73. He will also get you points behind the stumps.

Rilee Rossouw: Rossouw top scored in BPL 2019 with 495 runs in 14 innings at an average of 45.00 and a strike rate of 155.17. He scored a scintillating 44-ball 100* in PSL 2020 too.

Alternate Scenarios

  • Jason Behrendorff can replace Jhye Richardson depending on the XI.

  • Wicketkeepers Sam Harper and Inglish both had good BBL 09s. Depending on the XI, whoever is likely to bat higher up the order should be selected.

  • Benny Howell can be replaced by Josh Lalor depending on the playing XI.
