Stats - Kishan hits second-fastest ODI fifty by a debutant

Ishan Kishan and Krunal Pandya in training Sri Lanka Cricket

2 Ishan Kishan became the second man to score fifty on debut in both ODI and T20I cricket. He scored 56 on T20I debut against England in March and now he's bettered that with 59 on ODI debut against Sri Lanka. South Africa's Rassie van der Dussen was the first player to this double, scoring 56 on his T20I debut against Zimbabwe and 93 on ODI debut against Pakistan.

2 Kishan recorded the second-fastest ODI fifty by a debutant, getting to the mark in 33 balls. Krunal Pandya holds the record for fastest fifty on ODI debut with his 26-ball effort against England earlier this year. Kishan also became the second Indian and the 16th player to make his ODI debut on his birthday.

59 Kishan's score is the highest for an Indian wicketkeeper on ODI debut, surpassing Saba Karim's 55 against South Africa in 1997. It is also the eighth-highest score by a wicketkeeper on debut in this format.

1 Kishan is also the first player, since 2001, to hit the first ball he's faced for a six on ODI debut. Four others in this period hit their first ball in ODIs for a six, but they were not on debut - Johann Louw (South Africa, 2008), Jawad Dawood (Canada, 2010), Craig Wallace (Scotland, 2016) and Richard Ngarava (Zimbabwe, 2017).

86* Shikhar Dhawan's score in the chase, the second-highest by an Indian in his first ODI as captain. The highest is 110 by Sachin Tendulkar in 1996, also against Sri Lanka in Colombo.

3 Players to complete 6000 ODI runs quicker than Dhawan (140 innings). He is the second-fastest among Indians, behind only Virat Kohli (136 innings). Amla and Kane Williamson, with 123 and 139 innings, are the others to reach the 6000-run mark faster than Dhawan.

17 Innings for Dhawan to complete 1000 ODI runs against Sri Lanka. He is the fastest player to reach 1000 ODI runs against Sri Lanka, in terms of innings. Hashim Amla, with 18, was the previous fastest.

4 Four players with higher scores while chasing on ODI captaincy debut than Dhawan - Richie Richardson (106* vs Pakistan, 1991), Sanath Jayasuriya (102 vs Zimbabwe, 1998), Steven Smith (102* vs England, 2015) and Adam Gilchrist (98 vs West Indies, 2001).
